Dreamcast Controller Board

Ok so i got a brand new controller for my dreamcast,tested the controller on a working dreamcast,works fine,but my controller port seems to be blown. Ive seen on the net that you can get a new resistor and solder it on. I dont know how to solder. Anyone know where to get a new or used board that works?

I don't know the answer to your question but I will say this - learn to solder, it's easy for basic repairs such as this. Read some online tutorials and learn to solder. Honestly to buy a cheap soldering iron and the items needed for replacing a single resistor will probably cost you less than buying and shipping a DC for parts or the controller interface panel alone. You'll also then be able to do basic repairs, learning how to solder is a skill that I've always said everyone should know - technically minded or not.

Ok what type of resistor do i need for it?

10 ohm . not 10K but 10 ohm. This is confirmed.

That would be Black, Brown, Brown (then gold, silver, or nothing for tolerance but that band doesn't matter in this case) if you're going by color code. Figuring you're an electronics newbie.

alec006, the resistors in the PM you sent me should work fine.

Screw that, had the same problem, even bought new resistors but guess what? Apparently that resistor blows too easily and it really is not needed, really just over-protective in this case. Simply take needle nose plier's and slowly and carefully twist the existing resistor until the to terminal wires connect, this bypassess the useless resistor and your ports and controllers will work fine, yes I was doubtful myself but I did it and have used my Dreamcast and various controllers and peripherals since then for over 2 years, the extra resistors I ordered are sitting in a drawer...........................

Wow it worked,but is was a pain getting the resistor to twist and touch. Im still going to learn to solder and buy some resistors just in case it really blows a short circuit. Thank you all for your help.

Nothing like causing a short to override a burned out component. Also don't order resistors unless you're ordering hundreds, (you're paying way more than they cost to produce as it is) go buy the smallest package you can at a local electronics store.
