Okay. So two weeks ago, some guy bought four items off of me on eBay. He didn't pay right away, so I emailed him and asked why. He said he had to wait for his student aid check to arrive at the end of the month to pay. I say fine, I'll wait.
So it's almost the end of the month. And I send him a reminder. And he's saying that he wants me to ship the items media mail, when I clearly stated on my auctions that I don't offer it as a shipping option. And he's refusing to budge. I'm charging $10 for shipping via Priority Mail (Flat Rate + delivery confirmation + other costs). I tell him that my local post office refuses to let me ship computer games via media mail (which is true, the postmaster has given me a lot of trouble in the past). And he replies and sends me a huge note where he says I should fight this, complain, show him the rules, yadda yadda.
So I give him a lower shipping estimate (I ship multiple items via Priority Flat Rate because it's cheaper, but I recalculated the costs and it's like two dollars less) and tell him that he's either got to pay the money, or I take this to eBay.
Am I doing the right thing? Shipping stuff via Media Mail is actually more expensive to me because I have to buy a box and stuff, and the only place where I can find decent boxes around here is the post office, which sells them at very high prices.
I did not offer Media Mail, and I don't understand why the buyer is refusing to comply with a simple rule that was made clear. I've already given him a lot of space to work with. Should I go on and report him to eBay if he doesn't want to pay?
