    Default Collection price estimate

****Please do not PM me asking to buy anything. I do not want to dispose of pieces at this time****

I am debating on disposing of a collection I never really play. Can anyone give me an estimate of what I should look for the whole set? I'm up in the air on the whole thing but any info would be great.

    Here's the rundown:
Almost complete US NES set. 836 carts not counting disks. I do not have Hot Slots, Peek-A-Boo Poker, Stadium Events or the Myriad 6 in 1.

I do have the yellow Zelda cart, about 15 Fami disks, the Fami disk system (working last I checked) and 2-3 top loaders without the correct controllers. Bunch of misc controllers. Probably a complete ROB in the attic, Vaus controller, 4-play adapter etc.

I know it and have helped write it. Glad you were first to be no help. It does not give a total based on a collection vice single titles. I really do not feel like listing or searching on ebay every single title or clicking on every title to find the price guide listing which also does not list complete vs loose or with manual. Everyone here is well aware a collection gets less than selling singly so I was looking for a good estimate on what I should ask for on the whole load of stuff.

Also the buy/sell FAQ here specifically says to post questions of this nature in the Classic/Modern forums which is what I did.

I say that collection is worth around $6000-8000 depending on who would be interested....that price is for everything all at once. I am sure that it would be different if listed separately.

dtr has it about right, though I'd say maybe a bit lower as a whole package deal (3k-5k tops)

but piecing it out you could make a mint.
espeicaly selling alot of the rarer less playable games and just keeping your favorates.

    Default Value

From someone who buys NES carts regularly, a collection like this would probably fetch about $3500-$4000 for the total. (keep in mind shipping charges well keep some people bidding lower on Ebay, it's gonna weigh a ton!)

And if you decide, we'd happily buy the entire collection! just contact us!

Thanks for everyone's inputs. I'm not really sure whether I'm going to get rid of the collection yet since I know down the road I'll regret it. The info here should help me make a better informed decision. Thanks for your time to look over that long list.

Hey, sorry it came across like that, I was just kidding around. I just meant that a collection of that size is pretty hard to put a value on, other than 'A Lot"

    Crazy.
I'd say more in the $9000 range... maybe a little bit higher if you sold it on ebay or something. $5,000 just seems a little low, espessially since you have a bunch of extra stuff that most collectors don't consider part of a NES collection.

Edit: I had to say it:

No problem. I was a little hasty to take offense. No harm, no foul.

I do appreciate everyone's inputs. Now I have to do some serious thinking about selling it so I can finish the Tbird restoration and Fiero engine swap sooner. I am very torn on the whole matter. On the rational side, I know I rarely ever play it and could keep a few games that are common and often played. And on the emotional side, damn that took a long time to put together

Indeed. Anything less than $6000 is robbery. If you do a lot, be sure to remember to take out the pirates before posting any sort of auction. And then sell them to me, wink.

The last few almost complete auctions havent really went as high as anyone would think. I think selling in a large lot is the easiest way but the major drawbacks are. Like someone said shipping would be a killer and second theres probally not a lot of people in the gaming community that have 6 to 10 thousand dollars lying around to spend all at once. I agree if you want maxium price out of your collection selling off all the hard to find games individually and the commons in small lots would be the way to go. Im closing in on a cpmplete boxed collectio but probally would never get back what i spent

I would say its actual value and what you can expect are two different beasts all together. What its value would be in the range of 7000.00 to $10,000.00. What you could expect would maybe be 1/2 to 3/5 that amount. Something like that would be a hard sale as a group because the number of buyers would quickly evaporate into nothing but buisness and other colectors who would only be picking it up for what ever titles they themselves were missing. I want over half the games on there myself, but I would definitly advise against selling it unless you needed the money that bad. Something like that wont come around again and most of those games are once in a life time finds and once its gone, your chances are nil of ever replacing it.

Having no input on the value, I would just like to encourage you to sell the stuff. You'll feel VERY good about it once that gigantic package is dumped off.

I'll also agree that as a lot, you're looking at 3k-5k on ebay.
If you sold everything separately, or in smaller lots, you'd roughly double the amount you get (and quadruple the amount of work)

It's a 65 hardtop. Pics are here under T-bird. It is more of a restomod than anything else. New intake, carb, distributor, swapped transmission, headers, valve covers etc etc means it'll never be a points winner. I pllan on driving it - a lot - when it is finished but everything is expensive when you work on the older cars. Bought 2 power steering hoses and a stainless fuel line and it ran almost $150

There are also a few of my 86 Fiero under its heading also. Both sets of pics are very old as the 65 is now running tho not mobile until I re-install the tranny and getr a real exhaust on it. The 85 Fiero in the pictures the wife wrecked Sucks since it was the best $200 car I ever had. The 86 Fiero has been lowered with the sport suspension and a pretty good interior. It has a 2.8L V6 but I have a line now on a 3.4DOHC from a Grand Prix GTP. If that doesn't work out I have the option of going with a 350 but think the other is more streetable.

*** btw ignore the chrome air cleaner and the gold valve covers. Both of those are have changed or in process. Just there to keep stuff from falling in the engine. Valve covers are 64 half round style in gunmetal with THUNDERBIRD embossed in them and not sure of the air cleaner but it will not be a $12 Mr Gasket part like it is now Also the battery has been changed from a pasteboard box with 'battery' written on it - checking fit and placement umm yeah that is what I was doing

As a collector, and apparently not much of a player, wasn't the thrill of the hunt the best part of the collection?

If there's something more pressing that needs your monetary attention, go ahead and sell the lot and start it again sometime down the road. I know a few people have done this simply because they loved the hunt.

Sorry to threadjack. I would expect to receive $5000 for that if I was selling it. Obviously breaking it up in smaller auctions would net you a little more, but if you really wanted to maximize your gross sales I'd break it up into smaller "buy it nows". I always seem to do better that way.
