The Video Game Awards Show on TNN
I read this in a small article in my new GameNow issue. apparently, they are supposed to start late 2003, early 2004. What do you think they will be called? Will you watch them? Do you have any more info that can be provided on this thread? Please answer questions.

Worst idea ever. Ludology and gamegirladvance have already covered it, but to sum up:
The show is presented entirely in a juvenile manner. "Best Videogame Badass"? It's like an MTV Movie Awards before an Oscars - it makes videogames lose what growing credibility they have.
I'd love a real videogame award show. Rez for artistic merit. Ico for design. Etc., etc. This is not that.
I totally agree with kevincure. All it does is farm out gaming as a pop culture thing. Bleah. Not to mention, if I was a game designer, I'd be offended and want to sue their asses off for using my characters and designs in their awards show without permission cause it's defaming the characters to use em like thatSad thing is, none of the companies would do that...even though they should.....

I too agree with kevincure,it is a stupid idea.I dunno if I will watch. x_x
They already did this a couple years ago. I believe it was on TBS and crap like Voyeur for CD-I won a bunch of awards for the acting in it. Doesn't anyone else remember this show? As far as I know it only lasted the one show and didn't come back the next year.

Yah- it was hosted by Jonathan Taylor-Thomas (from Home Improvement) & Leslie Nielsen. It was simply AWFUL. They mispronounced & stumbled over common game names, there was no smoothness/flow to the show, & there were stupid awards & categories. Later I read a negative "review" on it in some gaming mag. I still can't believe I bothered watching...

Fortunately, we've got networks like Tech TV and G4 that DO take gaming seriously, and DO know what gamers really want. I'll be sticking with those.
