Default Tetris DS... rough around the edges?

First let me say I'm a huge Tetris fan, and I'm SURE Tetris DS will have fantastic gameplay and be a lot of fun. However, looking at the screen shots, for the most part it looks really sloppy and chopped together. Is it just me? I love how they're paying tribute to the classic Nintendo games, but their use of the graphics looks really bad! There just doesn't seem to be much thought to the design, just almost random placed Nintendo graphics without any thought to making it a nice composition. Especially the awful photos in the background overlaid with the old NES graphics. It really just looks like a homebrew Tetris made by a bunch of 12 year olds! Tetris DX of the GBC IMO looks much cleaner and more polished... and OF COURSE Tetris for GBA even more so!

Am I the only one who thinks this?

It looks kind of chaotic, but I'm gonna hold off on any calls until after I play it. I agree that Tetris DX (GBC) was a very solid and well designed game, but which GBA Tetris were you refering to? If it was Tetris Worlds, well that game just sucked.

The fact that Nintendo is behind the DS version of Tetris is enough to please me. With the complaints about the NES Tetris aside, Nintendo has been, quite easily, the best Tetris developer of the lot.

I wouldn't be surprised if all of those images were actually in motion during gameplay. It looks pretty cool if you ask me.

    ill wait and see

gba tetris was gawd awful, and the modern tetris games (the next tetris, tetris worlds) have been full of mind numbing bad techno music and terrible/sloppy controls.

Not really the sort of game I'd drop £30 on, but I'm sure it'll be just super.
