Default Question about ye ol' SUN and the dreaded 'FADE'

Alright, sun fading is something we collectors dread, and its quite obvious why. It sucks.

Now my question is, is direct sunlight the only thing that fades items, or does just light in general fade stuff? I'm only questioning this, because I just noticed my room of doom is facing the direct north and it has never received direct sunlight, ever.

All light will contribute to fading, but the intensity of sunlight, combined with it's higher UV levels makes it the most damaging.

Research 'document preservation' and you'll find lots of info on the topic.

There's been many topics about this already, mostly dealing with the yellowing of Super NESs. While sunlight and other direct light can in some instances (depending on the actual content and type of plastic) fade or discolor things, fading is also quite often (more often, really) the cause of discoloration of most objects (paper, plastic, metal). Not a whole lot you can do about it without some really expensive methods. Just use common sense...keep things out of light and humidity, away from food, pets, kids, girlfriends (lol), and especially friends and they will last longer. Time erodes all, my friend.
