Default What game do you wish you had worked on or designed?

Simple question. Everyone has read countless musician interviews in which they are asked, 'what is the one song that you wish you had written?'

So here it is. What game do you wish you had worked on, created or designed? And why?

    Loose groundrules:

None really, but it doesn't have to be your all-time favorite game or even in your top 10. Just one of those games that you'd love to be able to take credit for or would have been fun to be a part of. Any reason you have for choosing the game is good really. It can be old or new, popular or obscure.

With that said, mine is one that may raise an eyebrow or two.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out (NES) or any of the Punch Out series (SNES or Arcade)

    Why?

Simply because it must have been a lot of fun making that game. Coming up with all the crazy names, dialogue and idosyncracies of each of those characters. Not just anyone can sit down and think up of Soda Popinski or Piston Honda, especially with a straight face. Maybe back then, but it is hard to imagine now.

Resident Evil 4..Knowing I had been part of one of the biggest overhauls in game history would be fantastic.

Duke Nukem Forever. If they really are still working on that one, they've had years of guaranteed job security because of it. And obviously they can take as long as they want to finish it. I bet they aren't getting it done on purpose now, just so they can keep getting paid to work on it, and also because they have no clue what to do without it to work on.

Personally I wish I had been able to work on a 2d shooter way back in the beginning of the industry, with massively overpowered hardware (like a dozen dedicated chips and 16-bit processors) and a huge budget Would've been like Super Metroid (meets Aliens), keeping the dark tone from the beginning of the game throughout.

It's strange but funny to think that despite all the good games that have come out, much better stuff can always be produced. Game developers don't even scratch the theoretical space of game programs that can possibly be written (think of the old yarn of the Universal Library, which has every book that could possibly be written in it).

There are games I wish I could have worked on for two reasons.

First, I wish I had worked on Link to the Past. Now granted I wasn't nearly old enough at the time to even now how games were worked on, but I love the game so much that it would be special to say I had worked on it.

Second, I wish I had worked on Kingdom Hearts. Partly because it is a great game, but more so that I could have fixed some of the problems with it. Specifically the camera. It's so frustrating to really be getting into the game only to die a cheap death cause the camera doesn't do what you want it to do.

I think I would have to go with a game that helped start a whole new outlook, Doom. Those games are crazy, I just got done playing the first one again, and even with the crappy graphics that game is amazing.

For some reason Ikaruga was the first game that came to mind.

I mean inside I am thinking of a lot of Miyamoto's work and several other classics, but I guess should go with my gut instinct.

Working with a small but skilled team like Treasure would be an incredible experience. And I find something about Ikaruga to be a beautiful game.

Katamari Damacy would've been fun to work on, partially because of all the humor in the game. The unexpected success would've been icing on the cake.

Another pick might be Rebel Strike to get those on-foot missions out of the game

GTA Vice City or maybe some of the old school VCS games. Some of those old time coders made a fortune near Atari's end.

This is a tricky question... I would say one of the very early game because teams were small and sometimes reduced to ... 1 person ...
I mean, there is the fun of playing games and then there is the 'fun' working on a tinny piece of a gigantic puzzle that will come together somehow. Some friends or mine work in the game industry and sometimes they do not even know where their stuff will be used, and if it will even be used.
I've always been more interested in Game Design and this is what I love about early games like Space Invaders or Galaga. Simple design but amazingly strong gameplay. But once again, I'm not sure if I'd enjoy to work in the game industry today but this is not the subject isn't it ?

I would say MOTW 2, I would make sure it was released and not left at 70%.

Wasn't it because of the budgets it was left at 70%?

I would have loved to work on "Sonic and Knuckles" if only for the technology to link 2 games together

Right now I am contemplating doing a video game version of the "Creation To Exeqtion" cd by Q Strange. Good album and i think it will translate good to a Genesis game.....just gotta learn how to program for the Genesis

If you like Hip Hop, I highly suggest Q Strange.
