Can i ask why you think Tekken is shit?

I honestly prefer Tekken games over DOA games which are both decent fighting games

I'm not a fan of the left punch/right punch control scheme, but that aside one of the biggest reason i think Tekken is shit is because every Tekken game since Tekken 3 (the last good tekken) hasn't really done much to advance the series.

I love DOA because i enjoy how cinematic the fighting feels. It's a fun game to watch and because i'm was actually willing to learn the fighting system (DOA3 had a shit system by the way) i've gotten good a proper countering and attacking.

I also love virtual fighter even though i suck at it because it feels the closest to real fighting.

Tekken just sort of fails to hit either of those points for me and Tekken 4/5 only made me hate the series more.

I beg to differ; Tekken Tag Tournament was the last good Tekken.

I had forgotten about Tekken Tag. While it certainly wasn't as good as Tekken 3 in my eyes, it was certainly better then the shit known as Tekken 4.

I agree Tekken 4 was crap.

    But Tekken 5 is great.

Here's some more news and screen shots:

    ---------------------

Leading video games developer and publisher NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. announced today that its highly popular fighting franchise, TEKKEN®, will make its fighting debut on the PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) system in TEKKEN®: Dark Resurrection in Summer 2006. Bringing the pain to the portable system, TEKKEN: Dark Resurrection boasts two brand new characters, Lili and Dragunov, whose unique fighting styles and new moves will bring new blood to the ring as they go up against an impressive line up of classic TEKKEN characters, including the return of Armor King. Fighting fans are in for a new TEKKEN challenge as the opening movie sets the stage for the new characters to join the ranks of those who pursue the title of the King of the Iron Fist Tournament.

In addition, double the customization items are available in TEKKEN: Dark Resurrection, allowing the player to transform their favorite characters to their liking, then sharing the look with friends on AD-HOC wireless multiplayer. Topping off the long line of features are fun mini-games that allow players to take breaks from the fighting action, all adding up to make TEKKEN: Dark Resurrection the premier fighting game for the PSP system.

"We are very excited that the action-packed fighting world of TEKKEN is coming for the first time to the PSP system," said Yoshi Niki, Business Unit Director at NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. "Having the furious fighting action online through the multiplayer wireless connectivity will enhance the TEKKEN experience and make it the must have PSP system title in Summer 2006."

TEKKEN: Dark Resurrection arrives on the PSP, bringing one of the most explosive fighting games to the handheld platform.
New characters Lili and Dragunov join the classic cast such as Jin, Heihachi, Paul and Law in the battle to be crowned King of the Iron Fist Tournament. An all-new intro movie lets you dive into the midst of the world of TEKKEN, this time with ad-hoc multiplayer mode to fight against friends as well as more items to customize your favorite characters. Now you can fight anytime, anywhere – are you ready?

    Features:

STUNNING GRAPHICS: The beauty of TEKKEN is re-created on the handheld console, delivering one of the most realistic graphics on a handheld platform. A variety of destructible objects pump up the action on 19 stages!
VARIETY OF CHARACTERS: Play as one of over 30 characters, including classics Jin, Heihachi, Paul, Law and more. New characters Lili and Dragunov join the classic cast with all-new fight styles and moves. Collecting victories to lead your character to become king rewards you with ending movies for each character!
CUSTOMIZABLE CHARACTERS: Use your fight money to customize your characters – with more than double the items seen in TEKKEN®5, the sky’s the limit on the unique look your character will have!
AD-HOC MULTIPLAYER BATTLES! Using Wi-Fi connectivity of the PSP platform, you can battle against your friends – take your customized, original character against theirs and let the battle unfold!
BONUS MINI-GAMES: Mini-games provide a little breather from heart-pumping fighting action for more fun against friends!

A load more screenshots can be found here. I think the official mini-site has launched, too. Looking good, Namco, looking real good!

Game is already out in Japan/Asia!

It's awesome! If you can't wait, import it! US date is still at the end of this month.

Here are my impressions on it thus far:

Tekken: Dark Resurrection(PSP) is a really good port thus far.

There are some noticeable differences and of course arcade will always be > this version. But something is better than nothing right?

    Some noticeable things:

    - Cut scenes during story mode and pre fight animations and round ending animations/win poses seem to be displayed at 30 FPS.

    - Network mode has less lag than before. It's good stuff this time around, the KO lag doesn't annoy anymore or leave you guessing whether you won or not.

    - Game sharing and playing vs mode with 1 UMD disc is an awesome idea. The initial loading process takes awhile(about 2 minutes) but after it loads the matches are almost instantaneous(if you keep selecting rematch that is).

    - There is a tutorial mode when you first boot up the game. It teaches you movement/sidestepping/and basics of gameplay pretty much. That was a good move by Namco to help cater towards people that have never played this title before.

    - Endings and Intro CG sequences are amazing. Really top notch stuff from Namco yet again. My favorites being Dragunov's ending(WOW WHO IS THAT!) and Armor King's ending...(classic, pure classic).
