    N64.
And the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Arcade, and PC (officially as DynaBlaster). Oh, and the Genesis, too.

Truly, Hudson Soft has accomplished something here.

*edit* And let's not forget Panic Bomber VB on the Virtual Boy.

Yeah, that's right. Sonic has been on SMS, Game Gear, Genesis, 32X, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, GBA and GameCube. On SMS there was Sonic 1 & 2 and Sonic Chaos.

I believe that you can add Konami's Gradius family of shooters to the list.

I was looking over some old threads, and this one interested me. So what is the longest running franchise to never have missed a generation with an original game since it's debut?

Although probably not the answer to the question, Pitfall immediately comes to mind.

Debuted on the 2600 (2nd Gen),
Appeared on the NES as Super Pitfall (3rd Gen),
Later showed up with The Mayan Adventure on the SNES and Genesis (4th Gen),
Went "3D" in Beyond the Jungle for the Playstation (5th Gen),
and The Lost Expedition found it's way to the PS2, Xbox and GCN (6th Gen).

And as far as I know, original Pitfall games ended there. In retrospect, 5 generations doesn't seem all that long. I'm positive I can think of a couple other franchises that can beat it, but I'll leave that for others to mention.

Donkey Kong. Mario also started on the 2600. And, as far as I know, they still make Mario games. Prolly on the Wii U, also...

It sounds so clichet, but Mario prolly takes the cake.

Mario and Pac-Man would be a tie.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

Surprised no one's mentioned Ys. Hard to be on as many platforms as that one.
