How do you prefer getting your guides for games?

For Square games I usually end up buying the guide, mostly because of the artwork etc. They've been slowly going downhill after FF8 & Tactics though. For other games, I don't buy the guide unless I found them at Funco for a penny. Otherwise I go to gamefaqs if I'm in a bind and I need a tip.
I love buying the guides whenever I can, because I like the art and the look of the guides. I also like having nifty color pictures that show me rather than a faq that just tells me. However, I buy few guides anymore as the prices are $21.99 + 15% tax here. I pick up used guides whenever I see them available, but no stores carry them used here, so that's not often. Suffice it to say, I use guides when I can, and gamefaqs when I can't. I never print off faqs though, cause ink cartridges cost more than the damned games!

Personally I try to stay away from guides unless I REALLY need them or in the case of FF games I usually miss out on like 35% of the game so I use the guide BOOKS to go back through again....I guess if I really need something at the last minute I jump on GameFaq.com

Gamefaqs. Most of them seem to copy the guidebooks anyway. (But not the three faqs I wrote. )

RPGs especially I'll get Guides for if/when I can..any others I use GameFAQS off-and-on.

Gamefaqs for me, if I don't get what I need there(which rarely happens) I won't buy the guide, but I will go read the guide in Gamestop, the guys don't seem to care...

No Faqs. I like figureing it out on my own (yes even RPGs)
If you want cheap game guides, hit your local Gamestops (or Funcos if the assimilation hasn't hit you yet). Almost all of their used guides are $1.99 (used newer guides for popular games can be $3.99). I've recently picked up guides for Ogre Battle PSX, MGS2 PS2, Final Fantasys 7-10, FF Tactics PSX, and lots of others, all for $1.99. Guides are what I've been picking up lately as the older games start to dry up.

Print them off GameFAQ's, if I need them.
I generally don't like to use guides for walkthrough stuff, though.
I primarily refer to GameFAQ's for cheat codes that I can't remember, i.e. infinite ammo or invincibility in Resident Evil 2 for Nintendo 64.
Is it just me, or are a lot of really old threads being bumped lately?
