Easy question about a joystick

My neogeo cab's joysticks aren't responding to the diagonal movements too well. On Samuari Showdown II, the fighters don't perform a backflip/front flip without trying to do that manuever several times until I find the "sweet spot".
They are in great shape, so how can I fix that problem? I can buy a couple for 30 shipped, and it's an easy install, part in part out. But want to fix it instead if it's possible.

It could be a few things... basically look on the bottom of the joysticks and you'll see that the plastic piece that pushes the microswitches (assuming they're microswitch joysticks) isn't pushing them easily. It could be that the joysticks were assembled wrong (sometimes people disassemble them and put them together with a washer in the wrong place and stuff), or it could also be that the hole that the joystick goes through on the control panel isn't large enough for the stick to move it's full range.

It's hard to describe everything, but just look at why the joystick won't move enough in the corner directions and you should be able to figure it out.

And if they're leaf joysticks, just adjust the leaf springs.

It is a dedicated 2 slot MVS cab.

I'm thinking I'll open it up tonight and take a close up picture, then take it out and clean it. Aracde Antics/Mod said warm soapy water. That's what cleaned out my button that was sticking? Is that correct? If so, this should be fixed!

It sounds like your joysticks might be in 4way mode.

Try taking the clip off and flipping over the "hour glass" thing

Sometimes those clips go Flying so be careful..

That is a very cool diagram.
I think they are not HAPP controls but originals, though I have a local guy who sells them on ebay. I might just pickup two minus shipping at 16 bucks. That's the best I've seen. I am gonna put this to the test this week.
Does it say HAPP on there anywhere?
The cab came from California, but I just bought it out here in MesquiteTX at the Super Auction.

Looking at that Super Joystick diagram.
The c-clip?, then flip over the hourglass and reassemble?
When I open it, is there anyway to tell which mode it's set at?

They still might be Happ..
A lot of Mfg's used Happ joysticks in their games.

My Supers have an "il" Logo on them and have a # 11

The larger end of the actuator (hour glass) should be tripping the switches for 8way

The smaller end would be used for 4way.

You've got micro switches in the buttons there, so you have to remove them from the buttons before you do any cleaning.

You can remove the wiring (unless the wires are soldered on to the microswitches) or remove the micro switches first. Then unscrew the plastic "nuts" that hold the buttons down. Pop the buttons out of the top side of the CP. If you left the switches in place, remove them from the buttons now, then take the rest of the button apart so you can remove the spring. Put the spring aside and wash the plastic pieces in warm soapy water. Let them dry and put it all back together.
