Default A piece of the PS3 network puzzle comes together: GameSpy

I recently read that Sony would be using GameSpy technology in their network (I'm not sure to what extent, and I dare not ask anybody with an NDA hanging over their head).

I follow up (in a roundabout manner) with this issue in a topic on GameSpy Forums, found here. [GSI] employees talk about how things work there. Admittedly, there's no tough questions asked - it's pretty much just playing softball, but again, the NDAs. I do think some folks might find their repsonses interesting (and funny, as well).

Hopefully Webroot will come out with a PS3 port to remove all the spyware and crap that Gamespy will install on your PS3 hard drives

GameSpy Arcade that you'd download standalone might be ad-supported (I haven't used it in years), but the software they'd sell to Sony would not be. Sony's paying for it and it's their system, thus GameSpy does not need ad revenue, and in fact cannot benefit from it (as it's not their network).

Now, I can't guess whether or not Sony themselves will run ads on their online network.
