I'm thinking of picking this up, I liked the NES port. Is the Genesis port good? How does it compare to the arcade version?

I'm getting this game in the mail CIB for $5. So what if the graphics are ugly, the gameplay is good. My only problem with Twin Cobra is that the game is a lot harder than the arcade version. For example when you move your heli, the tanks shoots at you. But, the tanks knows where you're going to move so they shoot at you! First play the Genesis version of the game, and then the PC Engine version of it. You'll find out how much harder is the Genesis version.Originally Posted by Melf
I have the Genesis version too. It is pretty hard, but I think it's cool. You might want to check out the sequel on the Saturn too. Kyukyoku Tiger II Plus. It's not nearly as hard.
One thing I've noticed in the Genesis version of Twin Cobra - the enemies are exactly where they would be if they had moved along their paths without being shot upon appearing in TC. I guess they start moving before you can see them. The 'faster shots' seem to me to be a symptom of a game that wasn't tweaked for home consoles - everything moves like it does in the arcade version, but in a smaller space.
Autofire is a really nice addition, though, and lets you plow through enemies far more quickly than you can in the arcade version.
It isn't really impossible. Get the spread gun!
I'm after a legit copy myself of Twin Cobra for the Genesis, as well as Fire Shark, both are awesome games, both are Toaplan, but have a similar style, yet play nothing alike. Both also have pretty fast bullets, though I believe Fire Sharks has slowed a tad from the arcade version.
