Ghosts N Goblins NES - got a question

Just picked up a copy of the game.

On the title screen it has:

1) 1 Player
2) 2 Players

But when I hit select twice it appears that there may be a third option.. the cursor goes below the 2 Players and I can hit enter and the game starts...

Does anyone know what this is? Or is my game bunked?
