Default WORLD OF NINTENDO Glass Display Case - NEW PICS POSTED, pg2

    Hey All,
I have contacted a guy that has one of those old "World of Nintendo" display cases. I am sure many people have seen them before, including people that have them that are members of this site. He lives about 8 hours away from me and was going to drive there tomorrow morning to pick it up.

Before I did I had a couple questions first though.

    1. This is at least one of the "OFFICIAL" nintendo display cases, that was in the world of nintendo store right.

    2. Does anyone on here own one that has any info on it, and if they like it or not?

    3. Is $350 a good deal for it?

Any help, opinions, or info would be great, THANKS!

You have to think, you couldn't buy or build a case like that for $350.. well okay you could build one but it would come out around that same price. Take that and then add that it's a 20 or so year old store fixture, and one that many people desire.

I think I have the top of that showcase. Is there anything else that looks like that?

I prolly wouldn't since the cost of gas would be high too.

Because the freight and crating cost for shipping it would be so much less...

No, but if he wasn't in a tremendous hurry he might get one quite a bit closer.

I've seen a few over the past few years on ebay and such.

These don't come up that frequently and, even then, finding one within 500 miles of one's location compounds the difficulty. They have sold for less than the quoted price, I'm thinking $250 is a fair price (coming from someone who has watched these sell), but again one must ask how close it is and how long you are willing to wait. I wouldn't go any higher, especially with the drive ahead of you.

I worked for the company that makes just about all of the Nintendo P-O-P displays. Sorry to say that I was witness to dozens upon dozens of these and similar display cases and various other Nintendo P-O-P items being destroyed to make room in the warehouse for N64 and then Gamecube displays. If I remember correctly, $350 was in the neighborhood of the original cost.

Yeah, I just found that the trip would be 12 hours away, and with me driving a full size suv that will be in the 200-300 dollar range in gas, easiy with the recent price jump in gas.

i already told the person I would take the sign for $350, I don't know what to do now because I never intended to spend upwards of $700 for this (Includes gas).
So would it not be right of me to call him up and say, well I will still buy it but only for like $250 now instead of $350??
I hate to do that because we agreed on $350, but gas and food will make the total trip $700 or so.

I would just apologize and pass on it for now.

I know this is an extreme example, but I missed out on 2 of these "given" away locally for a total of $50.

    I don't think they're that uncommon.

I know this might be a bit selfish, but can you PM me if you don’t want the unit? I live in Illinois and depending on which direction the 12 hr drive is from you, it might be closer to me…..

If its too expensive, I'd just pass on it. I mean $700 total... ouch Just be honest with the seller. He'd probably be cool about it.

I don't know. Those cases are pretty awesome and I'd love to have one chilling in a gaming room. $350 doesn't sound like a lot to me considering desks and all that I look at are a good $500 or more. Plus this one is old and is authentic, not a remake or some home project built to sell. On top of that you get the signs and it's still intact and looks like really good condition. I say go with it if you can because I wouldn't pass it up (even if they are common I don't see them much around here for trade).

That would be a pretty lousy thing to do.

You're better off being completely up front with the seller. Let him know that you aren't going to buy it after all. If he asks why you can tell him about the gas, etc. At that point, he may or may not offer to knock the price down some, but you definitely shouldn't bring it up first after you already agreed on the price.

Or as smokehouse mentioned why not tell everyone where it is and maybe some DP member will take it.

Yes he does, I do remember seeing it in the game rooms section here. I tried accessing it the other day but a page showed up saying you couldn't view them now.
I am pretty sure someone else on here has one, I am also looking for a Gameboy version of this kind of case. It's alot smaller than this one though!

Well I wouldn't just call him up and say 250 OR NO DEAL!!
I mean I would explain to him my situation and be nice about it. But I definately wouldn't wait for him to say something, this might be a once in a lifetime chance to get one in this great condition!

And I did buy it buy the way and will post more about it including pics tomorrow!!
