    Default ELI's Ladder

Atari2600.com is selling an ELI's Ladder for the Atari 2600. The most sought after and hard to find game for the Atari 2600 System. here is the write up and cost:

    ATA26GAM1034 - Eli's Ladder

Eli's Ladder, Simage, cartridge only. This Atari 2600 cartridge is rated a "10-out-of-10", UR, Ultra-rare on both the AtariAge.com website and in the Digital Press Collectors Guide Seventh Edition. This cartridge is arguably one of the three (3) rarest production games for the Atari 2600. Fewer than twenty (20) believed to exist. Actual number probably closer to ten (10). Top label shows hand-written number "3189". End label shows some wrinkling and a tiny pull at lower right corner. All wear typical of representitive examples. Cartridge fully tested and in working condition. A very rare opportunity to own a very rare video game.

    Price: $1350.00

So what do you guys think? Good Deal? I wonder if it would fetch more on ebay.

That is the same one that was on eBay. It went $1002.56 reserve not met a few weeks back with yours truly as the high bidder.

What is the connection between JerryG and wberdan, is this some sort of consignment? JerryG trying to sell it for Willie and make a profit on the side or something?

The price seems a little high to me, especially cart only. Now if it was Video Life, that might be something... I doubt that their claim of only 20 copies out there is plausible.

    cheers,

It is on consignment at the moment- it actually will be taken down soon.
jerryG doesnt own atari2600.com any more though.

as far as i know the last time eli's ladder was offered for public sale in 1995 it sold for 1,500$ loose.

video life may prove to run you more than that, and i think a production run of 20 seems reasonable if the owners said so... why would they lie about that?

It's a little high, but not WAY high.

I know someone (on these forums in fact) who purchased an Eli's Ladder at PhillyClassic for $1300 and some other stuff in trade, but the Eli's Ladder also included all the extra stuff (stickers, cards) that were packaged with the game. No box. On our trip to NAVA this weekend, Mr. Hardie and I were discussing that deal which seemed a little high-priced at the time but agreed we'd both have taken the same deal if offered today.

What devalues this for me is the writing on the label. The cart purchased at Philly was pristine.

one last thing- i agree its high, and i priced it that way because if i'd just as soon keep it then sell it for less than that... its inflated on purpose,

    take care!

    Hey Willie

I don't think anyone is knocking you. If I was the owner of that game, I would never sell it. If I had to sell it (not saying you have to), I would want TOP DOLLAR for it as well.

I know this is off the topic, but I second that notion.

There was an Eli's Ladder on eBay just before the one at Philly. It was cart only and also had writting on the label. The bid hit $1,400.00 or so and then it was pulled. I wanted it bad and emailed the seller. His reply was that it was sold to someone who made him a nice offer. My attempts to bribe him with even more money met with no reply. Little did I know someone unknown to the collecting world would just show up at Phillyclassic with a complete copy !!

I am the one who bought Eli's ladder at Philly and it wasn't cheap. The deal was a bunch of cash AND a loose MINT Quadrun and Springer and there might have been another cart (approx $100.00 as well) as well. A nice touch was that the seller then spent $700.00 or so of that money buying other games from me in the next couple weeks. At the time I wasn't sure I was making a wise move BUT I just had to have it. Quadruns and Springers come and go but who has a complete Eli's in nice shape? I knew I'd never see that deal again.

All this being said the price isn't that high. It is a true rarity. Also I'm sure Willie wouldn't mind a trade/cash deal if you had some nice Colecovision rarities.

In my humble opinion, that is WAY too much to pay for a game, ecspecially cart-only...the only way I would ever even THINK about buying a game for that amount of money is if, I could turn around and sell it for a couple hundred profit, for the love of god, I have seen entire collections go for that price!

I keep waiting for someone who thinks the Ultra rare games are overpriced to find one and sell it to me for $50.00.

But as soon as they find one they are out there asking for the same prices they called crazy insane the day before. Its funny how it changes your perspective.
