Default ATTN shmuppers, what game is this?

Sometime in late 2005, I was looking at a website for a new Japanese arcade game in development. It was a vertical shooter, it looked kind of like Sapphire for the PC Engine, set in space (I think) and the characters were anime-lookin' girls in space armor type getup. I have no clue what it was called, and I don't remember what company was making it. I know it wasn't Cave or Treasure or anything. Well, I don't think it was Treasure. Maybe Irem? No, I'm pretty sure it was a more obscure company.

    Can anyone help me out?

Sounds like Trigger Heart Exelica by Warashi. Although, that was announced earlier this year. It's still not out yet, though, sometime in May.

    Yeah, that's it! Thanks.

Damn, I really want to play this. I wonder which will happen first- A PS2 (3?) port, or NAOMI GD ROM emulation...

Seeing that it's a NAOMI game... and a shmup, it might be easy to convince Warashi for a quick Dreamcast port. They have the developement kits for the Dreamcast, as they've announced titles for it in the past, so that's covered. Dreamcast-Scene.com will introduce a petition for the game soon.

I don't follow Dreamcast, are companies still producing games for it?

Yeah, there's at least a few more shooters due out for it. That's pretty much all it gets these days, though.

Warashi has announced that they will port Trigger Heart Exelica to the Dreamcast.

The release date is February 22nd, 2007.

    I'm excited.

Get your preorders in before you get Border Down'd

$80 - Limited Edition (comes with a soundtrack and a bonus artbook thingy)

    $60 - Regular Edition

I've heard mixed things about the Naomi version (generally somewhat negative), but I'm a sucker for shmups (unless they're from Triangle Service ), so I'm going to splurge a little

The reviews I read for the NAOMI version have been in the good to almost great range. I haven't read a negative review. It seems the worst part of the game is that, while the music is amazing, the sound effects seems to sound garbled in comparison. Also, I guess the "throwing" mechanic of the game takes a little getting used to.

What I can say, however, is that you can't judge this game by screen shots. You're going to have to watch the movies to get a get impression, as there is a large difference in quality.

    Have a blast.

Well it's Warashi, so even with the negative word of mouth I've heard, I'm interested in it Shienryu didn't get a whole lot in the way of critical love but it remains one of my favorite Saturn shmups.

edit - It's like G Darius mixed with Night Raid. That's like pumpkin pie with cool whip \m/ \m/
