Default question about Street Fighter Anniversary Edition Controller

Do they use the standard XBOX breakaway cable?

The reason I ask is that I'm getting the Guile and Bison versions of these controllers for XBOX, and I want to use them on my computer, but I need to know what kind of adaptor to get.

Some USB adaptors connect to the breakaway port, and others connect to the standard controller plug.

I just checked my akuma version and it uses a breakaway.

    Hope that helps!

Don't buy one - just make it. Its super easy and cheap. If you want to know how check xbox-scene.com or just ask here.

I know how, but I can't find male USB plugs at any of the electronics stores around here, and the adaptors are pretty cheap nowadays.

    Just sacrfice some USB device/cord.

I had a bunch of old USB cable extenders laying around, so I just used those

But if its cheap nevermind. How cheap is cheap by the way? I made mine in about half an hour.

I found one that connects 2 pads for about $13. which is perfect because it also eliminates the need for a hub (my mac mini only has 2 USB ports!).

If I were going to DIY it, I'd probably just replace the controller's entire cable with a standard USB cable, since I don't have an XBOX anymore anyway. That wouldn't take more than 10-20 minutes, and it'd look very professional.

I know this isn't specifically what you asked about, but since we're talking SF controllers...

I just picked up the anniversary stick a few days ago. This thing is top notch quality and is compatible with PS2 as well as XBOX.

It really has added a lot of life to any game that can use stick control. Well worth the $50.

    Just sayin...

    what's it look like?

Mine's just a genesis style pad with L+R buttons. It has a cheesy hologram and came in a shiny box. It's xbox only.

I mainly use mine for genesis emulation.

It's got some pretty bad ass graphics on the top of the platform. This is just a really well put together piece of hardware. Feels like someone cut a piece of the arcade machine out and sold it for home use. Check it out:

That's an ebay link, but I just checked out my local EB. They didn't have one on display, but when I asked they ended having one in the back that they sold to me.

    Wow! Those are badass!

    I like them, alot!

How do you select whether whether it's ps2 or xbox? Does the xbox plug use the breakaway? If so I gotta get one. That would make using MAME just fantastic!

How does the joystick feel? Smooth? Notchy?

It feels great, a hell of alot better than the Pelican Real Arcade.

I did a little mod on mine...

See this thread, I wrote a little review or a bunch of joysticks including the SF Anniversary model.

Well, it's smooth, but you can feel at hear the "click" when you hit one of the 8 nodes. Just the right amount of tactile feedback.

It's a "split plug" at the end. So, you just plug in whichever plug you need (PS2 or XBOX). Real easy.

Unfortunatelyl, it does not use the breakaway. But you're right, it would be awesome with MAME.

Sorry I don't know enough about this to really get your comment. Did you just change the background graphics? If so, it looks fantastic. Good job! How did you get it to look so professional?

Yeah, I just changed the overlay. I made the image in picture publisher and took the file to a print shop, pretty easy.

It's sitting under plastic or something right?

I didn't really want one until I saw your version by the way - thanks

Yeah, you can take it apart and fit a new overlay under the plexiglass. After you get one, if you like I can email or post the original file for that overlay, then you can take it to a print shop and get one for yourself. (They cost me about $3.00US per sheet)
