Anyone have info on games for these systems? It seems to be a PAL only system and there are a bunch of games that aren't listed in the Rarity Guides.
Anyone know if there is an online source for this stuff?

Well 99.9% of the games for the Spectrum were on tape/disk, and hence why not in the guide.

I had one of those when I was a kid! Well actually... is a Sinclair ZX-81 Basic the same as the one you're talking about?
That's where I learned how to program in basic... when I was 5 heh. Actually wrote a working casino program by the time I was 6.

Ah, so tapes and disks aren't added into the guide and don't count as "games"?
Thanks for the info and the link!
Nobody's decided to head up a project to add it, since there were so many games. You can find out a lot of information about the games @ http://www.worldofspectrum.org/ - no sale information, though.
Also, while the system was biggest in the U.K., Timex sold at least a few models of the computer here. Note that there have been a variety of Spectrums over the years, as well.
I think adding all the Spectrum games into the rarity guide would be an absolutely massive job. Plus probably 95%+ of Spectrum games really have no monetary value, just for nostalgia purposes really. It was a great system for me to grow up with - I had four machines at one point! I think if I were to get back into it, I'd perhaps try and collect all the ROM Carts or +3 disk games. I don't think I have the patience to play tape-based games anymore!
As for carts, there 'are' four cartridges for the ZX81 (TS1000/1500) that were sold in America.
As for the spectrum, here it was the TS2068. There were carts for that system, but not very many at all. I've got my list (but not were I am), that I've been meaning to give to Joe (and post here) for over 1 1/2 years....
Plus I have my own rating on their rarity. The ZX81 carts are very rare - if you see any, or the cartridge adaptor, grad it! (If Joe ever reads this, I still plan on sending over the info on this - sorry about taking so damn long).
Well they are games for sure, but the guide only lists those sold/available on cartridge, CD or DVD, not any other magnetic media (such as tape or disk).Originally Posted by Tbowl

before you query about the Apple ][, this article from EG in 1985, add another 5000 to 6000 between 1985 and 1992:
And apparently the Spectrum had more, in the U.K., than those systems. Close if not more.Originally Posted by tom

We're already close, if not over, 20,000 titles for the C64 for GB64 and plenty more still left out there to find...
Mind you if you look closely, only around 8000 games on Spectrum, so the rest is type-ins, best ofs etc.
Same with C-64, according to GB64.com, 1000s different versions of First Stars BCK self-made games, and 1000s Electronic Arts PCS self-made games, 1000s SEUCK games, plus a few 100s Lode Runner self-made screens, they include these in the total (also info on the Retro Gamer magazine disk). I think that's cheating.
But I am pretty sure the Atari completists do the same.
And Apple ][ users probably too (imagine how many thousands Construction Kit-made games are out there for Apple ][!!), so they are even more ahead now (1992 - 2006, maybe the total as much as 25.000 - 30.000?). I bet plenty more to find for Apple ][ , like forever.....
Heh, didn't realize there were so many. Guess we may never know how much a Spectrum game tape is
Generally, they're almost worthless. 50p/90cents would be a high price for one.Originally Posted by Tbowl
I got a box of 35 Spectrum games in Gamestation for £4, and they're usually overpriced.
I actually develop and release brand new games for this ancient system, i currently have 4 games out on cassette tape as well as 2 tech demo's. For more information about the games, check out my website at: http://www.revival-studios.com
Here are trailers for 2 of my ZX81 / TS1000 games:

I have a Spectrum that was given to me by a youtube buddy of mine (Thomas3120) and I do have a couple of tapes - Bounty Bob and Dynamite Dan. Never tried them as I have a hard time hooking up a PAL system here. Tried it once using my capture device and playing it on a monitor but I'll be damned if I can remember how I did it since I haven't been able to repeat the process successfully for some reason.
You need a specialized joystick/adaptor as well IIRC which I've yet been able to find.
