    Default Sega CD Dead

I have a model 2 US Sega CD and know it no longer spins discs when you start it up it goes immediatly to the "cd player" screen, the whole time the disc will not spin, is there a way to fix this?

The first thing that comes to mind is the lid switch, I'm thinking the system doesn't see the door closed.

I would have a look at the door switch, see if its functioning.

Well, I just checked that and it's still functioning properly, so that's a no on the door switch. I'm still thinking the motors fried,

Even a non-functional door switch would result in the drive still spinning. Only thing to do is check the power feed to your drive motor with a continuity tester or ohmeter. If it's getting juice.. that's your problem. Even with the various overides and play modes of the SCD.. the drive ALWAYS spins up.. if at least for the initial read. If it doesn't spin at all.. ever.. you probably got a dead drive.

I don't think I've ever torn into an SCD II so I don't know if they're direct drive or not.. but the motor could be working and the transfer to the spindle broke, if it isn't direct; and I guess you wouldn't know it. Gotta' tear that sucker apart.
