Default Summer = Bad time for Game Sales?

Memorial Day is almost here. Summertime. People away from home. Is this a bad time to sell video games on Ebay?

Should I "retire" until Labor Day/fall returns?

I don't know how much it has to do with summer.. but I think NOW is just a bad time to be selling on eBay.. period. It seems to be a "buyer's market" on evilBay the last couple of months. I've picked up some nice systems relatively cheap, and as for games.. I think they're selling for an average of 30% less overall lately.. than just months ago.

It's just one of those semi-annual cycles though and I think things will pick up as the year goes on. But as for me.. I'm gonna' keep on buying.. now more than ever.

Ill quit selling the week before Memorial Day then.

No point listing if everyone's gone to the beach!

    And resume on Labor Day.
    Maybe even wait 'til Halloween

I like to start up again in late August/early September. That's when all the college kids buy systems/games for their dorm rooms.

    >Excellent suggestion.< Yeah I suppose "back to school" is a big sales time. I can play the game & box it up ahead of time & then sell them all in one swoop during the last week of August.

----->BUT do college kids buy old psone games?
Probably not. Probably should focus on new ps2 stuff.

Absolutely correct. Also, if you wait longer you risk people holding their cash back as they save up for the next gen releases.

Good to know. Goodbye PS1 games.

I'll set them up for college kids to buy August 27th (just before they go off to school).

So wait until after Labor Day (like I said in post #1). Sounds like a plan.

Summertime = Flea Markets and Yard Sales.

Wintertime = Sitting at home with nothing to do.

The Wintertime is ALWAYS better for selling games in my opinion.

It's always bad in the summer.

People go on vacation, And don't have as much to spend as in the holidays.

If you are planning to sell, Buy in the summertime and sell in winter near black friday. Although it's going to be kind of different now that the Nintendo Wii is coming out - you'll lose some buyers, But you'll gain some buyers.

I just tried selling some stuff and my opening bid wasn't even met. Normally I get my BIN which is set at ~20-25% higher. I listed everything twice. These are things that I sell with no problems things such as SNow Bros, SNES system, NES system, NES action set etc. These things always fetch me good money. This is definitely the time of year to start buying. Once I have a couple slow weeks like this I stop listing things on ebay.

Actually, about a month after I got back from my tour in the Army, I posted my trade list at a certain website (this was in mid-June of last year). The first week, I sold probably 20-30% of what I had listed. I dunno...maybe I just got lucky or something?

So far I've sold all my listed PS2 games. Some for $30. Some for only 0.99.

But the gaming guides did NOT sell. Even at 0.01. I don't get it. They're sealed. Why would people not want a sealed guide to go along with their games?

How much do you charge to ship them?
