Not a whole lot, But if you count recording music onto the xbox via CDs, that has been used more, Although i have only like 50,000 blocks of memory used for music on my xbox.

And, you know something cool? The PS2 reads Sega CD games as music CDs, And the Sega CD reads saturn games as Music CDs.

I think that when they first came out and CD players weren't nessassarily a household item, I might have used it a few times.
Even funnier though, is when my brother said we could listen to the Twisted Metal 2 (PS1) soundtrack if we put it in our CD player in our car.
    Yeah, not so much.

    I've never bothered.

I use my PS2 as a DVD player, though.

I've used my Playstation as a CD player a few tiimes when my JVC shelf system took a dump on me. The Playstation sounded great through the JVC. I've since bought another stereo and haven't used a console for CDs since.

For a while, my LaserActive was the main CD player. Now, it's usually the X360 (which is also the main DVD player).

When I got my PS One in 1996, I didn't have a CD Player or PC so my PS One served as my CD player. I didn't have a whole lot of CDs but I used the PS One a lot. I got a Sega CD later but I didn't use that for audio CDs as much. Until I got a PC in 1999, my PS One was my audio player of choice. It's a nice feature have. I still use my PS2 or Xbox as a CD player from time to time because I have some nice stereo support I can use.

    Huh? What visualizer?

You mean there's a light show on the Saturn? just like on the 3DO; Jaguar CD & Xbox? ..Where?

My brothers and I used our Turbografx-CD system as a CD player all the time. My dad had a pretty nice audio setup downstairs (he's always been into that stuff) and other than the player in the family room, the Turbo was the only other CD player in the house. This was obviously before they were the standard way to play music in households across the country. Other than that example, I've only ever played a CD in a console to mess around.

I spend much of my limited free time on the computer when at home. In the room with the computers, the stereo is wired through the sound card on one of my PCs, and has no other speakers.

Also, the computer speakers are wired through the KVM. I'm frequently toggling back and forth between computers, so if I try to play music on one of the PCs or the stereo the constant cutting out of the sound as I switch to a different PC gets annoying.

Consequently, I rarely play music through the stereo or PCs.

The same room is also home to my Jag, Saturn, and many older, non-CD videogame systems. Sometimes when I feel like hearing a CD while on the computer, I'll pop a disc into either the Jag or Saturn and listen that way.

BUT, I've always felt it was a huge waste of electricity, as well as unneeded wear & tear on the TV, to play an audio CD on the videogame system. I almost never have any desire to look at the screen while listening, and I've often thought it's a shame that I need to turn the TV on just to hear the sound. I suppose I could wire the audio through a separate receiver or powered speakers, but that's not my current setup.

My Duo, back in the day, was my CD player

And when I got my first playstation, I would play CD's on it for the visual effects at parties!

    Default Me?

I use a video game system as a cd player every now and then if my preferred cd player, the discman, is out of batteries. I don't have the space or interest to actually purchase a nice stereo. I've only ever tried music cd's in a Dreamcast and Saturn. Never owned a Jaguar/Turbo/Sega CD and didn't bother trying them with my 3DO or Playstation.

It is worth mentioning that one of my roommates in college years ago loved using MY old Sega Saturn to play cd's in. He spent more time using it to play cd's than I did playing games on it. I was cool with it. It does have a somewhat nice light show, but I have nothing to compare it to (since people say the Jag cd is awfully nice, which I have never seen).
