Good lord, didn't we just get 2.70??
They're on to us! *Gasp*! There's treachery afoot!
Are there any downloadable demos available yet, aside from that crazy Japanese game?

Nothing yet in English, according to Sony's site. Only one announced is LocoRoco
is the update worth doing
It really depends on the person. If you want to use emulation and all the fun stuff that Sony hates, then no it's not worth it. There are ways to get around having to upgrade to play games, so if you don't mind a little wait then stay with what you got.Originally Posted by Magak
If you could care less about emulation, or are unable to/just don't want to deal with the wait/programs you have to use, then upgrade and play with whatever crap Sony added.
I decided to upgrade so I could play Mega Man PU, kind of regreted it later since it lost it's value pretty quickly, but then quickly forgot about it when I got my hands on Tales of Eternia.
It was nice having emulation, but it's not as important to me as I originally thought. With the games PSP is going to come out with soon, I really don't care anymore.
So in short, it's all on your preference.
While they aren't available to the public, there were a couple of download kiosks at E3. The firmware had to be at 2.6 or higher. I'm trying to recall the games, but here's what I remember:Originally Posted by Jibbajaba
Field Commander
Ratchet & Clank
Gangs of London
Loco Roco
Lemmings
Every Extend Extra
and others, I'm sure.
Upgrade your PSP to 2.7 and get a GP2X. Thats what I say.
On a more related note, there is a second game other than LocoRoco you can now download, but I cannot remember the name of it.

Dumb question: How do you update the firmware? I've had my psp since january and have been fine with 2.01 but gradius collection is coming out and I might have to update?
I originally wanted to run emulation with the psp but never got around to it. Never got a GTALC and i'm addicted to lumines.
Yes, you can download the updates from Sony's website, and I believe you just copy them to your memory stick, which you can then run via the menu on the PSP.
There are advantages to both, but I found that I didn't like emulation much more than "hey, this is really sweet to play these on the go" because of the PSP D-Pad. That's something that can be fixed, of course, but I'd rather use something better for my emulation fix.
Or get two PSPs?Originally Posted by meancode

Collector of 1,673 strategy guides, and BlazBlue ain't one of them.
Sure, that would work. If you want to spend the money to buy a 1.5 PSP right now, go ahead!Originally Posted by DonMarco

I happily kept my firmware 1.5 PSP at 1.5 so I would be able to keep emulation on it. Are 1.5 PSPs considered valuable now? (I mean, do people actually sell those on eBay for more money for that reason?)Originally Posted by meancode

WOW. I didn't even spam the button. (I swear! I've NEVER double posted before)
Anyway, very sorry about the "quadruple post". I saw all kinds of weird forum errors, and now this.
Also, I am unable to edit/delete the posts. (More forum errors)

Yeah, I believe so. It's been a while since I checked but last time I looked on Ebay, 1.5 PSP's were selling higher than PSP's with current firmware.Originally Posted by Cirrus
There really isn't any point to updating your firmware now anyway. With homebrew apps, you can pretty much do everything on a 1.50 PSP that you can do with a 2.71 PSP (including playing current UMD's).
I don't know why 1.5 PSPs sell for more. You can easily downgrade to 1.50 from a higher firmware.
