I didn't want to mention this, but..
There is a video on Youtube.com where two lego guys are talking...
"Hey, whatcha doin'?"
"I'm playing my.. PSP" (not P.S.P, said like "PSSSP!"
"You mean P.S.P, right?"
"No, my.. PSSSP"
Yeah...I'be had that, also seen:Originally Posted by evil_genius
PlayStation Game Disc: Called "PlayStation Game Pak"
(Saw that in a Wal0-Mart ad years ago!)
Controller: Called "Paddle", "Remote", "Joypad", etc.
Game System\Console (Any): Called "PlayStation" or "Nintendo" weather it is or not
(Like the "Nintendo PlayStation" someone sold on eBay a few years back, and a "Sony Xbox" I saw on ShopGoodwill.com a few months ago)
Sega Genesis: Called "Sega"
(Everywhere I go, almost everyone calles it "Sega", and when I say "Genesis", they wonder "What the hell is a Genesis?", so there are times I have to call it "Sega")
Though I'm not sure if this counts, but I've seen people that don't know crap about the system they like or even as much as the titles of the games they like (EXAMPLE 1):
Kid: Do you have a N64
PentiumMMX: Yeah
Kid: ...You ever play that game where you drive a car, and then this huge ant starts attacking the cty, and your car has guns and you get to kill it?
(I'm thinking "What's the title?")
PentiumMMX: No...Have you ever played "Diddy Kong Racing"?
Kid: Never heard of it...How about that game where you kill dinosaurs?
PentiumMMX: No...Ever play "Super Mario 64"?
Kid: ...You mean that old NES game?
(I'm thinking "It's for N64!" )
Also, at Wal-Mart, I've heard parents going to Wal-Mart trying to find a game for their kid, who didn't give them the correct title (EXAMPLE 2):
Kid's Mom: Do you have "Super Hyper Ultra Mega Extreme" in stock?
(Wal-Mart Guy looks around what's on the shelf and searches what's hidden behind games that are "Popular" (Like "Super Princess Peach" behind a copy of "Tamagotchi DS" or whatever it was called))
Wal-Mart Guy: No...
...Anyway, that's all I've heard
I heard people call VGs and acessories in Brazil, my country:
Catridge - Tape
Joystick - Controller
Light Gun - Pistol
Peripherical - Acessorie
NES Clones / Famiclones - Generic Nintendo
Just the generalization that every console made by any company is called a 'Nintendo'

Good lord. I hear this kind of thing everyday, but I'm polite, and don't correct people (I know what they're talking about, why embarrass them?)
My fave of all time happened to be this one though: A young boy and his mom come in to shop. They look around for a bit at Gamecube games, and the son picks one up and says "I want this one!" The mom takes it from him, and loudly starts asking: "Are you sure you want Monkey Balls? Do you know you'll like Monkey balls? Are you sure you'll play with Monkey Balls? You really want Monkey Balls? Okay, I'll buy you Monkey Balls."
I had to suppress a laugh while selling it to her.
Other quick ones I've been asked for:
"Male Tycoon" "or Mail Tycoon"? Either way...
"Mary Kate and Ashley Roller Coaster Tycoon" I couldn't convince this old lady that they were two separate games. She just kept looking at her note saying, "well, that's what I've got written down, so that must be it"
"Kalamari Dama..something"
"that game that was banned"
"do you have any games for regular nintendo"
somebody yesterday asked me if he could get a mod chip for his 360 that would allow him to play xbox games.
man: "can you play Ds games on...
me: "no"
man: "you can't play them on anything other than a ds"
me: "no"
man: "wouldn't a game boy player work?"
me: "no"
man: why not?
me: because your TV does not have two screens or a touch screen.
man: oh. (walks around for a while)
man: well, have you tried it?
me: what?! How do you expect me to try it, the cartridges wouldn't even fit in!
man: oh, that's too bad. I really wanted to play that new Mario 64 game. It looks really good. (yes, he was talking about the N64 port)
A friend of mine asked me one day if I collected or played At-eer-e games and systems. I finally figured out he meant Atari. He is very French and that is how he has pronounced it for years and years, I was the first to correct him.
I also commonly hear games referred to as vids. That one bothers me.
