Default value of Mario bros. cab

    Hi guys,

I found this auction on a dutch marketplace for a Mario bros arcade cab, and the seller asks 350 euro ( 400 dollars or something i think)

It looks great, only has some little spots on the front but other than that is excellent condition.

However, the game itself is not in it anymore and the seller can't guarantee that the cab works, because he never bothered to track down the game board and just kept it empty.

What do you think of such deal ?

Not sure how common a Mario Bros cab may be in Europe but here in america, and nice empty Mario Bros may be worth $100 or $150 on a good day.

It's up to you though if you think it's worth it. It may just need a new PCB, but it may also need a power supply and/or monitor work.

    http://koopjes.marktplaats.nl/verzam...38286554.html?

Here's the link, forgot to include it earlier, might give you guys some more info / impressions of the deal.

Over here it is rare, because they weren't imported in europe back in the day, the seller says he bought it in the UK years ago,for a very high price....

But the nagain, i'm just going on what he says 'cause i'm not so familiar on the arcade era or value of such things, i just like them

One thing about the arcade market that's different from the regular videogame market is that prices differ greatly between regions. I have owned two "double" VS. cabinets (Super Mario Bros./Excitebike) and one red cabaret cabinet (Super Mario Bros./Dr. Mario) and paid less than $150 for each of them, and they were all working.

When buying games I always hope for the best but expect the worse. If someone tells you they're not sure if a game works then deep down you should figure you're buying an empty cabinet. At a minimum there's no game board and he doesn't know the condition of the monitor or power supply or wiring?

I couldn't sell most of my games for $400, and they WORK!

Flack built a barn in his backyard to hold all his machines, he's got pics up here somewhere.
I'm just trying to keep from losing my mind!

That's awesome. I never seem to run into that kind of things.
