Default Who else prefers Baseball Stars II over the original?

I know for most it's the other way around. Then again, I haven't played Baseball Stars in a long time (15+ years to be precise ^_^ ).

I however, really loved BS II. Should I try the original again? I know pricewise, BS II is a bit more expensive (I guess it's less common?). I've read some rip BS II I'm not sure why I think it's a great playing baseball game.

I do prefer the first one. I've played the game so much , it's one of my all time favs. I think I need to give #2 a second chance , plenty of people tell me how good it is. Even if it's not SNK.

I can't make up my mind, I really like them both. The NES versions, anyway.

My first PC games and favorite game of all-time.

when i was about 10 i would rent Baseball Stars at least 2 times a month from the local video store (i have no idea why i didnt just buy the game). one day i went in and saw they had Baseball Stars 2, i believe this may have been the first time i got an erection. i grabbed the case took it to the counter and raced home on my bike. i popped in the game immediately preparing to start one of many seasons to come, however i soon became annoyed by the game and took it back to exchange my rental for the original. i dont really know what it was it just didnt feel like Baseball Stars to me and i think one of the fields was purple or blue or something. i havent played the game since but i dont see how it could be any better than the first which was baseball perfection.

You MUST be talking about the NES versions. I frickin' love the NeoGeo AES/MVS version of Baseball Stars II (probably my favorite baseball game ever, I just now played it for a couple of hours). However, on NES the first Baseball Stars is far better than the sequel.

    Agreed 100%.

The first one on the NES is better because the teams are so interesting. Was there anything better as a kid than building a team from the ground up to eventually beat the American Dreams in a best of 7? I mean, aside from Tecmo Super Bowl.

It's ludicrous that this question is even being asked.

In my mind, the NES version of "Basbeall Stars 2" simply never happened. Nope. Hell, I don't even know what you're talking about. Why am I typing?

    Agreed completely.

I think I will type a bit more to explain myself though Yeah, there were 4 fields, but honestly, I didn't feel like any of them were different. Maybe I haven't played it in a while, and am forgetting something unique, but nothing jumps out at me.

The biggest thing though, the #1 reason why I HATE Baseball Stars II, is that the collision detection between bat and ball is off. It's almost like the last 1/4 of the bat doesn't even exist. Which makes it damn hard to try and hit the ball to the right side of the infield.

The whole game just fely uninspired and sloppy.

The Neo Geo games are good, but I really REALLY miss the ability you had to create your own team from the original game. I don't remember, can you do that even in the NES version BS II?? I honestly don't know.

LOVE Baseball Stars 2. I'm not talking the NES version either (didn't know it had one).

Remember Super Baseball 2020? That was a fun one as well. I found a copy for the Genesis (loose) for a whopping 50 cents in the clearance section of a local Half Price Books. Good stuff!
