    Default Famicom Disk System

From what I have read on the Net, the famicom disk attachment interfaced with the Famicom via the catridge interface. Has anyone ever tried to get the famicom disk attachment to work on a regular american NES via a pin converter or another method? Or if not does anyone have any ideas on the subject?

Im unsure about the original NES or the toploader, but the Messiah Generation NEX NES remake/clone can interface and function with it fine,

No, the FDS connects through the expansion port on the bottom of the Famicom (same spot it's at on the NES). If you want proof, look for pictures of a connected FDS/FC combo.

actually it can be done! take a look here: http://www.nesplayer.com/technical/FDS.htm

it connects throught the cart slot, not the expansion port. It's not pretty, but it does work. and if you happen to have a top loader, all you need is a cart converter

Oh, what the hell, I've been wrong this whole damn time. You're right, it connects through the blinkin' cartridge slot.

I've used the Game Genie/Famicom converter method, and it works pretty well.

Except that you lose the benefits of the FDS' FM sound chip.
