It doesn't look like there is anything. I'd suggest that if you really want to go to a gaming event, be willing to travel a little to get there. I know there are some Ohio based gaming events that could probably be a day trip. It's definitely not easy for someone to put on a show in an area, so if you're really interested it might be worth traveling a little ways to find a show that is close enough to local to you to support!
As for what is there, that depends on what you want out of the show itself. There are small gamer gatherings in some places that are basically hang out and play retro games with fellow gamer type events that can be really fun, and there are also a few large shows (the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee, for instance) where you can meet a lot of people involved with the industry, see big displays, and so on. All shows have different positives, whether big or small, it just depends on what you're looking for!

Better still, START YOUR OWN EVENT!
That's what many who have asked the question "what's going on in my area" and had no response have done. Start small and see where it goes. Someday you might be THE premiere event!
If I can be of any assistance in getting things started, feel free to PM or email me.
The only event I found thus far was a Capcom New York Fight Club in the 18th of August.
Their games are:
Street FighterXTekken
Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition
Street Fighter 3rd Strike: Online Edition
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
Time: 7:30pm-11:30pm
Location:TBA
I will find out the location of the area once it has been updated.
Year of the RED CYCLONE!
Street Fighter 4 = Zangief's Piledriving you to another level of Canvas! Bolshoi Tavieda!
