The worst condition ps1 disc ever?

Ermmm if you cant see what is wrong with it, there is a small circular shape missing from my disc here!!!
I hadnt noticed till later on, after i got the game from the car boot sale...

What on earth could have done this to the disc though!?!?!

Anyone got any discs/carts in much worse condition they wanna show off?

...that almost looks like it was deliberate, part of the manufacturing of the disc. Without a closer, detailed photo, it may be hard to tell.

Since it's on the outside, I assume that it plays (data starts at the center, and works its way out). My only concern would be the additional wear on the PS1's spindle motor because of the unbalanced nature of the disc.

I have discs in far worse condition, but that's the worst i've ever seen sold...


And don't try to play it, it'll royally screw up your spindle motor.

Last summer I bought a used copy of Chrono Cross at the local Blockbuster. When I got it home and opened it up (it had been resealed) the first disc pretty much looked like someone had went to town on it with a set of car keys and flicked white paint on it for good measure. The second disc looked about the same minus the paint but with a big "FOR DISPOSAL" sticker on it and a small gouge out of the back. Promptly took it back and asked for a refund, and the clerk seemed just as stunned as I was that someone was dumb enough to repackage the thing and stick it out for sale. Wish I had a camera to take a picture at the time, it was pretty much the worst I'd ever seen.

At one of the pawn shops I go to every few weeks, they have a Plasma Sword game that's total fubar! It's just a big fat scuff and they're selling it for $1. It'd buy it if it weren't for having a water-downed manual and back as well. It's totally screwed.

Use them as drinks coasters. If you find a disk with nice artwork that's totally fecked, use it as a drinks coaster with nice artwork.

That bit of damage -does- look like a manufacturing quirk. Odd.

There's CDs in the shape of cards these days, and last week I saw a boy band CD in the shape of a photo of one of the members, so it's not that weird to encounter something like that...

I've seen people try to sell discs which have practically snapped in half [or otherwise have large cracks in them] off as fine. It's insane.

A psx tomb raider disc that had been ran over by a car. There was nothing left.

I have Ace Combat 3 for the PSX that has a piece missing like that. Mine looks like the person that had it before took a bite out of it. It still plays fine though, which is odd.

My local Gamestop would cut discs that were returned to them as defective. Perhaps another chain uses some sort of a punch to destroy the CDs before they throw them away. That would be my guess and then some dumpster diver found them and sold them without realizing (or caring).

It's clearly a disc mod to enable the playing a PAL disc on an NTSC machine. With the increased air resistance the disc will spin at a lower rate, generating a 24 fps output (down from PAL-standard 25 fps), thus enabling perfect output on an NTSC machine. It's quite technical and cannot be explained easily to laymen.

I really should stop drinking while surfing.
