I got 2 of them. When they were sold new I believe they were 20.00 more than the original xbox. If it is opened check to see what dvd drive you have in it.

Ah ok whys that?
A few years ago there was a big to do about what dvd drives were in the xbox. It was interesting. Alot of people complained about the thompson dvd drives that were in the xbox. There are i believe 3 types you can tell by the dvd tray.
They said the samsung or phillips were the best and command a higher price they allegedly could read cdrw. Most halo xboxs I think are one of the latter 2. It is something fun to find out about your recent find.

I'm sure I still have my reciept for mine back at home somewhere (probably still in the bag with the still sealed Halo Xbox, now that I think about it). I want to say that I paid 175 for it but according to the articles below they are saying 169.xx which really isn't all that far off.
Heres a few links for some info on it. Clicky

How much did it cost?
I got mine when they came out.
I think it cost a little more than the standard xbox, because it came with Halo.
Check out the Kleppings!

Wow....I've never heard of one. We've got assloads of those clear Xboxes though....
I'm happy to report that mine is a Samsung.
these were indeed 169.99 at retail...the xbox had just recently (as in the month before) dropped to $150. paying an extra $20 for the limited system that came with Halo 1? a good deal if you ask me. this version of the xbox was limited to 10,000 units.
my purchase of one was a little by accident... i knew they were making the halo xbox, but i had no intention of purchasing it. then the news came that Burnout 3 was not going to be released on the Gamecube (the only current generation system i had at the time). we got in the halo xbox at work, they looked beautiful, and i was going to be able to play burnout 3 on it. sold.

There were collector's edition see-though green xboxes for the Japanese launch. No Halo logo on them, though.
Collector of 1,673 strategy guides, and BlazBlue ain't one of them.
There were 200,000 of them made

Now for the Moutain Dew Xbox (i am thinking theres less then 10,000 of thouse (6000 were given away with Dewu caps) and some were given away when hulk the movie came out
there are 6 different types of drives.
thompson
samsung small ribbon
philips tall laser
philips slim laser
samsung big ribbon
and the new '05 have hitachi
I have an original release thompson and it still works perfect.
And you sir are a very lucky man. Mine sacraficed itself to the gods last year after 3 years and countless hours of gameplay. Playing the really new stuff at the time (Doom 3 among others) just drove that poor drive into the ground.Originally Posted by dave2236
Too keep this kinda on topic, I remember seeing a gutted Halo Xbox in your back room when I was there last fall.

I have one -- it was my college graduation present. The peeps love it when they come over! I'm pretty sure they only used Philips and Samsung drives in it, though I could be wrong. When I got it at Target they were running a deal where you got one free game when you bought the system, and of course Halo came packed in. So not too bad a deal at all.
there are well more then the reported 100,000 halo systems. Due to warehousing laws, microsoft cannot sell a system as 'new' once it's been opened. Which is why the created the halo system in the first place.
Basicly most halo systems started as regular black xboxes but were returned for one reason or another. So MS tested them, threw them in a green shell, bundeled them with halo (that way they're a new 'pack' so they can be sold as 'new'). Many halo systems are repaired defective boards.
My primary system is a halo box, when you open it and look at the motherboard, someone wrote "BAD" in sharpie on it.
The white japanese units are the same way, only many of those are defective dev units. Sometimes you can open a white xbox and find a board with 128 meg of ram.
Same thing with most 'limited edition' xboxes, MS just used them to get rid of defective parts.
lol interesting
Isn't that against the law? Selling something refurbished as new. Every time I bought a refurbished item it stated refurbished somewhere so the consumer could see.Originally Posted by ProgrammingAce
Also didn't store's sell refurbished black xbox's sent from microsoft. If that were true that has class action written all over it. personally I don't think they would put there franchise item under anything that would tarnish that image.
On another note. When I bought my new xbox. The price of the xboxs dropped to 129.99. It still rang up for 169.99. I just knew I was getting the 129.99 price 149.99 at the most not 169.99.
I bet the new one still rings up at 169,.99
