Default Can somebody break down the whole SuperGun thing?

I was wondering if one of the DP members here knows alot about the "SuperGun" or a "Jamma" board. If they would be kind enough to give us a quick run down on what the hell these things are. I'm always hearing somebody mention SuperGun or a Jamma board, but I'm not exactly sure what the hell the person is talking about.

I know it has to do with some kind of arcade motherboard that can be converted to output to a rgb monitor or a TV, and you can play real arcade games, but I still don't understand the whole thing. If somebody could break down the "skinny" on these two devices, I would really appreciate.

Sure, I could use the Search button, but why? I'm too lazy

well sounds like you already got the skinny. its an arcade motherboard, thats been modded to take controllers/wired arcade sticks. its usually nicely screwed to a wooden or acrylic frame, with on/off buttons etc. and outputs to a monitor or tv.

all you do is buy arcade game boards, and plug them into the top/back depending on the format/setup. it looks rather ugly if i do say so myself, and i dont like the dust getting in and on the boards, cause the cases are usually full of openings.

it does however let you play your favorite arcade games on your tv at home, and most arcade game boards arent that expensive...

a supergun lets you play arcade boards on a tv instead of in a cabinet. that's pretty much the breakdown. you also plug controllers into it. it's very easy to make a supergun and consists of about $100 in parts. if you feel like building your own rgb to ntsc converter, it's probably about $50 in parts. if you've already got an rgb monitor to plug stuff into, it's about $15 in parts. i had never soldered before and easily built a supergun.

A Supergun does not mod the arcade motherboard at all. A Supergun is a device that arcade motherboards (PCBs) plug into.
