    Default 360 Media Questions

Well my girlfriend finally broke down and is letting me get a 360 as soon as we pay off our new TV, but I have a few questions about the media center functionality and wi-fi.

First, I have wi-fi in my apartment, can the 360 connect to the internet via wi-fi, or will I need to run an ethernet cable. Second how does the file sharing work? Right now I'm under the assumption that you can stream things like music and movies from a PC to the 360 for playback on the tv or stereo or whatever, is this true, and can it be done with a Mac?

    First off cool gf.
First, I have wi-fi in my apartment, can the 360 connect to the internet via wi-fi, or will I need to run an ethernet cable.
It can connect wi-fi, but you will need the wireless adapter for $100

Second how does the file sharing work?
You need to have a Windows PC I believe with MediaConnect installed in your pc
Right now I'm under the assumption that you can stream things like music and movies from a PC to the 360 for playback on the tv or stereo or whatever,
To use movies you need a Mediacenter PC

is this true, and can it be done with a Mac?
Im going to find out that info soon. Im a fellow mac user.

I know xboxscene.com has a lot of info. You might want to check up on your questions on that site.

I'm pretty sure you can do this with a Mac. There was a blurb in an issue of EGM a couple months ago about some site where you can download the software from. If you can't find it, LMK and I'll dig around in my back issues and see if I can find it.

I just got my 360 today, so when I get back home I'll try out this demo and let everyone know how it works.

TwonkyVision media server software will also run on Mac (and Linux variants) and will connect to not only the 360, but other UPnP networked media players as well.

I found that too late, though, as I had already purchased Connect360 (which works fine, BTW).

I tried the connect 360 and that works pretty nicely, though since I havent bought it yet I'm going to try the twonky Vision player too before I buy anything.

    Update:

I paid the registration fee for Connect 360 and it's friggin' great I get my enite iTunes and iPhoto libraries, playlist , albums whatever, plus it can stream internet radio through iTunes, that alone is worth the $20

I highly recommend this app for any owner of a Mac and a 360, I wish it did video, but photos and music makes me happy enough.
