    Default Gamecube: Pool Paradise

I keep seeing this game at the store and know nothing about it. Is it a good billiards game and does it have great physics and graphics built in? What type of options are available, like is bumper pool an addional gameplay mode? I'm currious due to not hearing anyone ever chat about it and just randomly finding it and seeing it not sell for $5. Lastely is it a rare GC title?

I would guess Pool Paradise got the smallest available print run. I actually played it, and reviewed it for the UNL student newspaper. LINK

It isn't a bad pool sim at all. It has some annoying points, but for $5, if you want a pool game, it is pretty good. It has 11 different game modes, one of which was specifically developed for the game. It has a limited storyline, and an island you can explore. But it is very limited. You can also ulock weirdly shaped tables to play on, which I thought was kinda cool.

If you like pool sims, I'd say check it out.

Thanks for the insight suckerpunch5. Your article was quite informative and helpful. I'll try and pick this game up sometime during the week because I don't think anyone else around here is going to grab it considering it's already been sitting around their other GC games for about 2wks.

Well, I got this today for $5 in decent condition but it's missing the manual, which really sucks. If anyone is willing to sell their manual let me know. Thanks!

Where at? I went to GameStop and they said they didn't carry it, let alone ever hear of the name. They looked in the system and they sell it for $8.99 used. I've even talked to independant game store owners and they've never heard of the title. It's like the game that no one knows about around here.

That reminds me of the time I bought "American McGee's Scrapland" at my local GameStop. The price sticker was poorly placed and the checkout girl looked at me like I was an idiot as she said "Crapland? Sounds like a load of fun" and rolled her eyes. I still chuckle every time I go there. Good times.

Hmmm, I haven't been to K-Mart in forever nor have I seen it at any Best Buy (and I go to like 4 in my area). I'll need to check it out and see if I can resell the used and get a new cause I want that manual. :P

While I haven't played Pool Paradise, I believe it is from the very same people who coded Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker (also known as Jimmy White's Cueball, in some circles) and Jimmy White's 2: Cueball (with, quite possibly, the oddest use of an apostrophe ever!) for the PC (among other platforms) back in the nineties.

The studio responsible for these was then known as Awesome Developments, but have since been consumed by publisher Ignition Entertainment. Jimmy White's 2: Cueball was, at the time, a fine game, but it feels pretty stale today.

So, all in all, Pool Paradise would appear to come from a pretty decent background, and I have - once or twice - been tempted to pick this up.

It's worth it for five bucks. I doubt it will ever increase much in price (it seems to be everywhere around here. I believe a few stores were blowing it out recently for $4.99 new), but it is a decent game of pool.

I picked it up for $14.95, and I have no regrets about it. One of the GameCube games I still get out and play every so often. The power ups that you can purchase are kinda nifty too, and the characters that you play against are sort of funny, at least the first time
