    Actually, the discussion wasn't too bad.

    The non-Thompson-side, however, couild have argued better a couple of times.

    It is unfortunate that Thompson can now repeteadly refer to the statement of the American Psychological Association from last year. The statement was biased politics, and not based on empirical research.

    Fact is that there is no empirical evidence for over 15 years now about the cause-effect relationship between violent games and real world violence. Period. Research which tried to show that and came to some conclusions in this direction was propaganda at best, and ridiculous over-the-top conclusions based on funny statistics at worst.

    Even the National Instutute for the Media after ten years of research has to restrict their strongest statement to a "maybe": Violent games might lead to violent behavior. That is the best the educationally concerned could do so far. Everything else going further than that is just plain dumb.

    It's actually 'Attack of the Show' but the video is there none the less. I watched it yesterday, and I thought Jack was actually pretty sane on there. I'm sure you guys know all about his flat out crazy things he's done in the past, so I'm not going to get into those. I just wish they had a longer time to discuss, but I understand that a show can only be so long. I'm just surprized Jack actually, finally, agreed to be interviewed on the subject with people debating him. I love the times where Adam basically says if you believe that, you're crazy. Because that is definatly true.

    Jack seems to have toned down his rhetoric lately. Not just on this show either. I just heard him on a morning talk show a couple months ago and it seems like he's caught on that the batsh*t crazy routine isn't winning cases for him. Sessler spazing out the whole time didn't really work against him that well either.

    I dont get why people hate him so much.. Like I know he has said some really farfetched shit, but I can defiantly understand him not wanting kids to get ahold of innapropriate games... That other spaz seriously needs some medication.. He had issues

    Jack's been active lately. The first was released on 9-11 on various sites and e-mail, and is by far one of his most disgusting to date. I highlighted the offending paragraph:

    I represented all six parents of the three girls slain by a fourteen-year-old video gamer in Paducah. They live every day of their lives with their own Ground Zero—a hallway in a school in Kentucky

    This very morning, September 11, 2006, your company is directly selling at your www.rockstargames.com corporate web site your Mature-rated video games to anyone of any age, with no verification whatsoever as to the ages of the buyer, even though reliable age-verification software is available that your company refuses to use. Why? Because you want kids to buy your adult products that are particularly dangerous in their hands.

    You lie, both as a company and as individuals who receive lucre from Take-Two, when you say that you do not want children to have your adult products. This very day a law firm in Manhattan is suing you, on behalf of the New York City employee pension funds, for having known for nine months that the “Hot Coffee sex mod” was in your Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas game, all the while selling it to minors. This is a criminal act. You, Mr. Eibeler, at the very least, should go to jail for that criminal act.

    There is one thing one can say about the vicious men who killed men, women, and children in Manhattan five years ago this day. At least they believed in something, and they killed for a reason, as twisted and as Satanic as it was and is. But you Take-Two operatives, you corporate prostitutes, believe in absolutely nothing save the nihilistic vow to avarice. “The love of money is the root of all sorts of evil.” Those roots run deep and have taken over at Take-Two.

    I set out years ago to destroy your company, and by God’s grace, that end is in sight, despite your hiring of the Philadelphia giant law firm and your lobbyist on Capitol Hill, Blank Rome, to try to destroy me. Your company must be destroyed because you will not stop selling virtual reality violence to children. Blood is on your hands, in Fayette, in Oakland, in Cold Spring, in Medina, in Lake Worth, on Sam Donaldson’s Ranch in New Mexico, and in Miami.

    In a little over a month, you plan to release Bully—a Columbine simulation game whose recent “trailers” exquisitely prove that fact. The nation’s fourth largest school district asked you not to release this school violence simulator. You couldn’t care less.

    I stood outside your Manhattan offices a year ago with African American school children, calling themselves the Peaceoholics, begging you not to release Bully. We took our plea regarding Bully to the New York Post, then to ABC’s World News Tonight, and then to CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight. You could not have cared less.

    Colin Powell was right: “America has lost a sense of shame.” You can’t shame corporate whores.

    Radical, fascist Islamists recruit to their cause partly with the cry that American pop culture is raw sewage flowing to the rest of the world from a corrupted West. Take-Two helps cut the legs off the rebuttal to that argument. That is precisely why your corporate legs must be cut off, and by God’s grace, it will happen and it is happening.

    You in Manhattan remember 9/11. Remember, too, 4/20. They were both acts of terrorism for which there must and will be consequences.

    Repent, for your corporate end is near. And Mr. Eibeler, I intend to see you in prison.

    Dawson College student Kimveer Gill apparently literally trained on his two favorite murder simulation video games to go on his college shooting spree, just as did Klebold and Harris at Columbine High.

    The two games, according to Gill’s own web site, are Postal and Super Columbine Massacre.

    Miami attorney and anti-violent video game activist over a year ago challenged the maker of Postal, Vince Desi at Running with Scissors in Tucson, Arizona, to publicly debate whether or not his company should continue marketing Postal. Thompson predicted that it might lead to a mass killing, as a mass knife assault in Russia had been linked to Postal. Desi refused. You have to die sometime.” Kimveer Gill, the Montreal massacrist, is quoted saying precisely the same thing, while enthusing about his play on violent video games:

    The guy is an obvious attention whore who has no grasp on the reality of games/gamers. Even other "watchdog" groups have tried to distance themselves from Thompson, and the mainstream gaming press should do the same -- like EGM, who had 2 multi-page Thompson articles in recent issues.

    I do think that kids should be kept from violent/overly sexual games, as well as other media, but that responsibilty should fall on parents, not politicians or self-appointed "guardians" like Thompson.

    Reliable inside sources have released some interesting facts about Jack's life as a child:

    Apparently, the poor guy didn't enjoy his childhood much, as he spent it locked away in a basement, studying to become someone important and please his demanding and narrow-minded parents. This never gave Jack the chance to experience life as a carefree child, and he wasn't allowed to contact other children outside the strict environment of his boys-only school. When he was lucky, he could sometimes hear the other children playing outside his house, which "always brought a bittersweet smile to his face" as our sources say.

    However, his innocent outlook on life was destined to change, when during his very early teen years, he lost his virginity to the high-school bully. This started a wonderful secret relationship between the two, and for a short while Jack, for the first time in his life, "was truly happy". Like most teen romances however, this one also was doomed to end in tears, as the bully eventually realised his true purpose and devoted his life to playing videogames instead.

    "He was crushed", our insider says. Ever since, Jack has become increasingly bitter towards life in general, and has sworn to destroy that which took away his one true love. Some say he still gets very emotional when hearing the word "Bully", while others say he can sometimes be heard weeping through the night, when it's dark and lonely and the memories of his devastating childhood return to haunt him in his dreams...
