NExt Gen article
The article states that the PS3 will lead the next generation battle by 2011, leading the Xbox 360 by a small margin. The Wii will only sell a third as much.

If there's one thing this world needs more of, it's uninformed people making predictions about things they don't understand. I'm sure the rest of this thread will address that concern.

hurray for people who dont know jack shit about games!
way to make a prediction!
do they get a gold star?
That makes me giggle. I'm going to guess with the current speed of the gaming market that a whole new line of consoles are going to be out by 2011, that plus the fact that there simply is NO WAY that the PS3 is going to dominate the market. Sony's fucked themselves too bad this time, and I really don't know how they could save themselves. Unless they drop the price and manage to gain back a whole lot of exclusives. I predict Wii for the win, with the 360 close behind, and the PS3 even further behind.
But, that's just me.

The only true evaluation is reality and time....they can predict all they want but in the end they are just guessing like everyone else

You know, that article just didn't seem particularly in depth. I'd like to hear this fellow's reasoning, since most other analysts I've read seem to think that the 360 will be the winner this next generation.

Shouldn't we be visiting Jupiter by then?

Lets see here the PS2 was realeased in late 2001 and its 2006 now. Thats five years, and sony is comming out with it sucesor.
The PS3 is releasing in 2006 and it will take 5 years just to tie the 360? By that time it'll be to late. Well have new systems to be salavating over.
This is the most positive outlok I've seen for Sony and even this outlook looks bad for the PS3.

A Boston-based firm named the Yankee group?
My first instinct is to totally not trust a group like that, especially during baseball season.
(My second instinct is, of course, to notify the Nation, and have them deal with these filthy traitors. )
But seriously-2011? That's a long time from now. In this industry, it's utterly foolish to make that sort of prediction.
They probably eat those poontang cheese curds you yankees talk about...A Boston-based firm named the Yankee group?

Actually the Yankee group does pretty good research and hires smart people usually. That being said I am not sure I agree with this prediction as sony might be trying to position themself as the 'premium' product in the market when all that matters are the games. I don't think this round of hardware wars will be like any we've with each offering being more unique than the any other and a wide range of initial prices and pricing models. Also 2011 is when the price of a PS3 will probably be in the range that I am willing to pay for it and there will probably be enough good games for me to go out and buy it!
