    Default The most games?

I was curious as to what system had the most games? I figure it was either the 2600 or the NES, but I'm not sure.

I certainly don't have a definitive answer, but the PS1 had about twice the number of games as the NES. PS2 is well above that, too. NES library isn't that big, really -- some 700+. Gamecube is sniffing that amount now. I would bet 2600 is in the same general area.

PC gaming library must be going into the 50.000 pretty soon (longest lasting gaming platform so far. My 1982 games still work on my 2006 P4).

C-64, Apple ][, Spectrum all have a game library of above 10.000

Atari XL is pretty mid range, maybe around 5000 titles.

Nintendo Japan has a display of all NES titles, over 2000 titles.

I don't think PSX list is above 1000, but I could be wrong

IIRC, the PSX is up around 1500 games.

"PC" doesn't count as one platform, as the games aren't written for the PC itself. DOS, Windows 95, Windows XP, etc. are separate.

I would say Playstation probably has the most releases, as far as consoles go. It dominated the market for several years, and it dominated in all three big territories. The only other system to do that was PS2, which will probably surpass PSX in total library any day now, if it hasn't already.

Commodore Amiga, nearly 19,000 games released for it when I last checked. It's probably more by now.

If you really want to debate they are made to run on the same chip designs and sets therefore although you upgrade your operating system the hardware still runs the same thing. That's like saying someone has an Xbox running a form of UNIX therefore if someone publishes a game that runs in the UNIX environment and still runs on the same hardware set all other games for the standard Xbox system it's not the same thing. Highly debatable.
