Default The name of an old text based RPG? Cure my nostalgia :)

Hi all.. great site here. I was recommended to this forum as a place where others may be able to help me find the name of a game that I played in my youth and can not remember the name. Hopefully someone will remember it here.

All I remember was that it was a completely text based RPG. It could have been for the Commodore v20, 64, pets, apple IIE, or Tandy. I had exposure to all of them at one point and do not remember which hardware I played the game on.

My details are somewhat fuzzy, but I remember that the game consisted of a village and a dungeon. In the village you can sell treasure, buy things, etc and then you can enter the dungeon. In the dungeon you would move your character by typing north, south, etc.

For some reason I thought the name was sword quest and that there were further sequels or episodes. My searches for sword quest have found games of that name, but none that match the game.

Any clues? The game is at least 20 years old, but probably older.

The only really popular text-based RPG I can think of is Zork!

It has a great cult following, and I think that's the game you're looking for.

See I dont consider Zork, or any of the Infocom games for that matter, RPGs. I consider them text adventure games. This game was an RPG DND style with character stats etc. I wish I could provide more details but nothing more comes to mind unfortunately.

Eamon was a text-based D&D-type game for the Apple II...I know it had a ton of "modules" you can use with it too.

    Maybe that's it?

It was definitely one of these games. Not sure if it was Eamon, but there is a good chance it was SwordThrust. Just tried playing it and it looks like the game i was looking for. Got the quest mixed up with the Sword.

Thank you very much for your help!
