Default What is this for, SNES to Genesis adapter?

I found this item and it was billed as a Snes to Genesis adapter. I can't get it to work and was wondering if anyone had this item or knew what it was supposed to be for. Whether it works or not is another story. Its well done to be fake/just to much trouble to not do whatever its supposed to do.

Quite obviously you plug two super nintendo cartridges into the top (press very hard--that's part of the conversion process) and plug the cord coming out into the 9 pin connector on the front. This will make a loop, like a UHF antenna. Somehow this will transmit a converted binary signal to the Genesis.

could it be for the 3DO?

i have 2 of the 3 versions out there that lets you use snes controllers on the 3DO (one is on a controller the other is an adaptor), but i dont have one that looks like that

i remember seeing something that looked like that in an auction last month but i couldnt find it on ebay, it came in a white box with red lettering

Could you guys post pics of how the things that you have work? I tried pluging an SNES in either slot, and pluging a Genesis controller into the other one. Nothing would work. Genesis and SNES are the only systems that I own other from from that era. I didn't try two Snes controllers.

I think you're right..It's hard playing SSF2T on the 3DO Pad. Some Company made one to let you play your Super NES Controllers & Joysticks on it..

That's a Genesis controller plug, same number of pins, same shape, same distance from the pins to the edges...I don't have a 3DO, though, and don't know off the top of my head what systems used the DB-9 control scheme (some computers, older Atari machines as well I think).

Are you using three or six button Genesis pads? It might make a difference (I'd guess a six would work).

The single Genesis controller plug-in point on the unit is confusing too - there are spots for two SNES controllers, but only one Genesis one.

Well, maybe it's not so confusing when I think about it - it allows one player the choice of playing with a Genesis pad instead of a SNES one if they want, although routing two controllers through one port on the Genesis is new to me. And naturally if you wanted to play with two Genesis controllers you wouldn't need this at all.

Well what he's decribing it won't work on the Genesis...Get someone to try it on the 3DO..Because the top part is for a 3DO Controller

    Top part?

Also, I do see that the 3DO controllers look exactly the same as Genesis ones, as far as the connection goes. So that's probably the answer.

There is no switch to it. I was using a 3 button original sega controller. Genesis, Mega Drive, Vectrex, Atari, and I guess 3DO and Amiga? all use the same 9 pin connector. I'll keep it for my SNES collection but I guess I'll never use it, as from a consensus as it is a 3DO converter, I don't think that'll ever be into 3DO. Thanks for everyones imput.

Yeah, a buttload of systems used DB9. All atari systems before Jaguar come to mind...well, not 5200.

3DO sounds right. Looks like it allows SNES and Genesis controllers to work with another system, that's for sure. 3DO makes the most sense by far, though, since it was the last system to use DB9 and came out after the SNES.

That is a SNES controller adapter for 3DO. I have one. They work pretty damn good too. It's actually a must have for any serious 3DO enthusiast. Finally being able to use diagonals with accuracy is a huge blessing. It does take a little while to get used to the more accurate controls though, coming from a stiff Panasonic 1st party pad.

Those things used to cost alot of $$$ on Ebay too, but I got lucky and got one just like that for like $6 with $8 shipping or something like that. Definitely worth it.
