Default Atelier Iris NEW for $30! Worth it?

I have the option of picking up this game for $30 new and wanted to know what everyone thought of the game? Reviews are mixed. There also seems to be barely any on eBay, either making this game rare/tough to find or most people liked it and kept it.

Please help me out. Any detailed recommendations of the game would be great!

    Thanks,
    Carl

The first one, I'm assuming? It was my favorite RPG of 2005. It's charming.

    Yes the first one. Thanks!

Does anyone else have any thoughts on the game? I see people answered the poll, but with no response I have no idea as to why people voted yes or no!

    Help!

    Thanks!

It was alright, nothing great. The art style was quite nice, as well as the synthesis making (although actually getting the ingredients was repetitive beyond belief), the battle system was kinda eh, but mostly, the game just didn't capture my interests, whereas a game like disgaea 2 has for ~80 hours. Try finding a buddy that has the game or a rental place to check it out before buying, or check out some gameplay vids.

I rented it, and enjoyed it quite a bit Battle system is average, but the synthesis system is a lot of fun! You make the large majority of items you use.

I played the game for hours, didn't get anywhere in the main story plot, and what I did accomplish I hardly remember but damn did I love synthesizing stuff. Just about everytime you enter a shop you'll trigger a "special event" so I'd run around doing all those and advancing the storyline far enough to do some more. I love games like that. And the fact it was all very nice looking 2D didn't hurt at all.

One of my favorite PS2 games. (:

this game is good and i like it. the only really bad part is there is a lot of backtracking through the same areas and also alot of the enemies are just palette swaps of enemies you fought earlier. during battle you can keep switching characters in and out of battle which is cool(and reminds me of final fantasy 10's battle system). the voice acting is top notch and the characters are likeable. it is definetely a game worth playing.

Depends on your gaming tastes i guess.

I found enjoyment with the game. Its a throwback to 16 bit style games. The first game does have alot of physical walking and roaming around from each area and the challenge level was moderate. I finished the main game in less than 30 hours though there is still a bonus dungeon afterwards and many of the synthesis items are to be found really late in the game but not really necessary . I liked the Eternal Mana better than Azoth of Destiny personally. The music is good I like it.
