Default Why is Sony popular in Europe?

I don't get it. I guess European gamers enjoy taking it up the ass or something.

Sony treats that region so horribly, yet apparently Sony is quite popular in the EU. The PS3 will retail for as high as $925 in some European countries. Importing Sony products from Japan to the EU is now illegal. They got Lik-Sang shut down for selling their products to people who wanted them. Play-Asia can no longer sell imports to the EU.

Sony always releases their games and systems last in Europe. PS3 games are going to retail for the equivalent of $95 each in Europe.

So if you live in, say, Denmark, and you want to get a PS3 and one game at launch, you're going to be paying the equivalent of $1,020 without including any taxes.

Why is Sony popular in Europe?
Cause they give bj's for one euro.

Actually, it's not just Sony, everyone fucks with Europe. Nintendo is kinda known to mess around with them on occasion too.

well the importing thing sucks, but the prices are no surprise, everything is more exspensive in Europe compaired to the the states.

$95 USD probably only equates out to £50 or something like that.

It's always been illegal for them to import Sony goods. Sony just decided to finally take action against it. And Sony aren't the only ones who have sued them.

Xbox 360 games "retail" at $95. The reality is that only high street stores charge those prices, and they're much cheaper from supermarkets or online.

As far as I know, European countries add the tax before the product is sold. That's how it is in the UK. I'd like to see where you got $1,020 from.

It only affects PSP stuff. If you go to Play-Asia.com and try to order PSP stuff you get a message that they wont send to your country, but if you try to order a PS2 game it will work just fine.

I dont know if Sony is more popular in Europe, but maybe the Playstation is. Europe got like 2x more people than USA so if Sony sell more of a product here than i.e. USA its no mystery. The PS3 will cost $750 - $850 where i live. The games will most likely be $75 - $100, but thats the normal price on console games. Many countries in Europe makes more money than what people in USA makes so its bound to be more expencive.

Also, the import tax is different. Where i live the tax is 25% of the value. If you import something that cost $200 you must pay $50 in taxes.

Sony may fuck with the Pal gamer but at least it is not to the extenet
that MS and Nintendo do, also here in Aust they are a lot easier
a company to deal with, no hassle warranty periods and the such,
this is why retailers push them more I suppose :/

Also here in aus the top PS3 will be $999.95, with MS hdvd addon
coming out and also going out to buy a seperate wifi adapter
the 360 is a lot more expensive, maybe this is why, im not sure.

The other main reason is I think due to the games, Sony pick
up exclusives that are region specfic eg the AFL games (Aussie Rules Football)
and with consoles and software on the whole being more expensive
then in the US and japan you see a lot less multiple console owners.

The biggest game buying market after all is the casual gamer
and with things like singstar and buzz available Sony consoles
seem more attractive to the masses.

On the contrary, Sony and Europe always tops. Many Europe-only PS1 games emerged, Psygnosis and Sony made top games, and long since PS1 died everywere else, games still appeared in Europe.

On the other hand, Nintendo always treats Europe like shit. They even raided London with Scotland Yard and made it illegal for shops to sell imports.

that and the Fact they choose to snub various Pal countries
all together, How about no Aussie release of Odama? or massivly delayed releases?
or the fact that they choose not to stock any Players choice
    releases, Paper Mario still $99.95AUD,

Sony are popular cause the other 2 treat us worse, that and the
    cool Pal games.

Default It comes down to games

It comes down to games. Even with PS2 and all of its issues, The bottom line is that the system totally delivers on games and covers almost all categories of games respectively.
