    Default Genesis paperweight

ok i got a first model genisis and a red lettered controller in a lot of game stuffs i got a whole ago, i have been sifting for months so far other than the obvious most of it works.

this genisis though powers on, goes to a black screen and nothing else. was using Sonic 3 Sonic Spinball and Pebble beach games used both red and black lettered controllers, i do not have another working genisis (a smaller one taken completely apart) i am not a sega guy so i dont know about these things.

using a NES RF unit and i dont have any other way of hookin things up untill i get paid next week.

Have you tried cleaning the cartridge slot?

Or the cartridges themselves, clean those first. You often will think the Genesis itself is bad when it's just a matter of dirty carts.

Cleaning the Genesis connector, same as the NES or SNES or any other cart system, is pretty tough (if not impossible without lots of disassembly).

In my experience, actually cleaning the Genesis connector is pretty tough (if not impossible without disassembly), same as the NES or SNES or any other cart system.

Isopropyl alcohol is better than erasers, of course.

Does it feel like the cartridge slot isn't gripping the games? You may need to do something similar to this if so.

in the land of old computers when gold and tin contacts come together it creates a contact corrosion, i was told a while ago the white poly erasers kinda neutralize this and also scrub it pretty clean with out having to worry about any liquids.

it also get them pretty shiny
