Cool stuff. Thanks for the link, too bad it's on Google Video (they love suspending my downloads half-way through videos).

I posted this topic in the modern games forum last week.

but no one responded to it... I thought this was an excellent documentary.
I wont be offended if the mods wanna lock mine and keep this one going. Every gamer should watch this video, even if they hate tetris.
Yeah but you see, Sega didn't even TRY to license it and the unreleased home version was a port of the arcade version. If you mentioned Sega's version of Tetris then you'd have to go over EVERY bootleg clone.Originally Posted by Dimitri

I really enjoyed this video! It ironed out a few details about the issues that I didn't fully understand before. I didn't realize Mirrorsoft were so irresponsible about it; I also just blamed the commies for being greedy and unreasonable. Shows how much I know.
Poor Alexy; he's still never been really well compensated for such an astonishing piece of art that others have profited from immensely. At least he seems to have a good attitude about it.
It was an amazing video. Very good. I had read the story a few times here and there, in books and on the Internet. Nothing has captured quite like this documentary which went back to the original players.
I'm glad Alexey Pazhitnov managed to get into games. I didn't know this. What I also didn't know is how much Tetris is based on a very old game. Indeed, I had thought it was an original idea. Kudos to him for expanding on the idea.
What was very shocking in the video was the '84 video of Moscow. No exterior advertising anywhere. Nothing but buildings, people, and occasional signs. Big difference from the U.S. (and other countries).

I think he was more talking about the sega RULES of tetris which can lead to this sort of gameplay :Originally Posted by InsaneDavid

I have one. It is a kid playing some arcade machine with the same game as in that vid. It is not hacked or sped up... it's really that fast!

And thank Bushnell that the forums don't support those glitchy, slow, YouTube flash applets.Originally Posted by Massimiliano
