Default 1989 introductory Sega Genesis television commercial, found!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47g3CcDuzSE

I've been looking for this for years, and years.... and years.

long before Sonic The Hedgehog came out (1991),
years before the famous "SEGA scream" commercials (early to mid 90s)
and a whole year before the well-known "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" campaign, were some early commercials for the Sega Genesis in the United States.

this was most likely the first.
    welcome to summer-fall 1989.

the sound is low, and not good of quality, but, it's there.

heh, SEGA Genesis started the high-definition graphics era, not Microsoft, not Sony. remember it well

as a bonus, here is (most of) another early Genesis commercial, also from 1989.

"Me and my friends used to sit around and talk about boys, but now we talk about our Sega Channel scores."

    Yeah, that's healthy.

God, that brings back memories. Thanks for the link.

The one genesis commercial i was i could find was the one with the kids going into the garage and having to pay that one tool $5 to get in and play genesis games. I always thought that commercial was kickin' rad.

Maybe not as kickin' rad as this Sega Activator promo video, but kickin' rad all the same.

Now if I could only find that pre-Sonic 2 release commercial.

Parts of it are in this commercial (burrowing TV, TV hitting door)

I just bought a first gen Genesis with HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS printed on top yesterday. What a moment in this age, even my girl got the joke. There were other first design Genesis' without that statement as well, at that thrift store (I suppose because even back then, high definition did mean something that was coming someday, so they stopped using it as a selling point)

Funny how Sega came out of the failure of the Master System swinging at Nintendo in full force.
