    Default Wiimotes losing sync.

Anyone have a problem with the Wii just forgetting about the remotes for no apparent reason? After a hearty Excitetruck session our Wii forgot we had any Wiimotes and it was a royal pain in the ass to get them resynced. All we got was the four blinking lights showing battery life, but nothing else.

Is this an "undocumented feature"? Is our Wii broken? Are we tards or something?

I've had the same thing happen. Nothing worked in fixing it besides unplugging the power to the Wii itself :S

I had this happen probably 3 times so far. Each time, I also had to unplug it from the power to bypass the standby mode and reboot the machine. Oh well, hope Nintendo fixes this in an update someday.

I've had it happen a couple of times also, but I don't unplug the power form the Wii, insted I hold down the power button for five seconds so that it powers down completely. I've discovered that I lose response form my Wiimote whenever I turn up the volume on my stereo. After further investigation, I discovered that whenever I did anything with the remote controller (for the Television, Stereao, DVD Player) it would send the Wiimote.

That's when it hit me. The gucking IR beams are messing up. Remember, your sensor bar doesn't recieve any information. All it is is two IR beams that shoot out. All the receiving is done by the Wiimote, and then it sends the information through bluetooth to the wii. You don't even have to use the sensor bar at all.

So to keep this from happening, I put my finger over the light sensor on the top of Wiimote whenever I turn up the volume or use a regular remote control for anything.

It did it to my second Wiimote a day or two after I got the system (launch). It took me a few (very pissed off stressed) minutes to get the controller to resync, and i've had no problems since.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

My brother has a Wii and when I go over there to play it sometimes will drop the connection to the Wii-motes during bowling. When it happens, we usually just have to hit the A button on the controller a couple times and it will resync within a couple seconds. Doesn't sound like exactly the same problem but it's a connection issue so I thought I'd post it.

This happened the first day I got my Wii, and attempted to boot up Wii Sports for the first time. It really had me worried I'd gotten a defective unit or something, but eventually I was able to resync. I was worried about it being defective because even after trying to resync like it said in the manual, it just kept doing that four-light-blinky crap... taunting me.

It hasn't happened since, but I wish I could remember what it was exactly that I did to get it to resync. I'm pretty sure I pushed some sort of buttons or something while doing the official resyncing procedure.

So Cap'n, if you haven't gotten then resynced yet, I'm sure your Wii isn't broken. Just keep trying different things.

It has happened to me 3-4 times in the past 10 days (since I've gotten my Wii). I've noticed it only seems to happen after I've played for more than 15 minutes, though.
    Egbert, I miss you...

No, and in my case holding the power down didn't work either which was VERY odd.

How weird! I just had this problem myself. I brought Rayman and my Wii over to my dad's today and all of the sudden while browsing the menu, I set my remote down and came back and it was turned off and would not sync. I restarted the system twice and tried syncing and got it on the second restart. Really weird problem. No idea why it happened.

We pulled the plug and resynced and it worked. It's weird as there weren't any other environmental changes (lights and whatnot.) It's like it just all of a sudden didn't work.

Took it to my uncle's house and not a problem there either.

    *shrugs*

I've had it happen a couple times too.

Not that any of these problems that have come up are really major, but does anyone else get the feeling that the Wii is not up to Nintendo's usual standard of super-high quality hardware?

Wow! With all the problems Ive been having with my Wii, I haven't had this problem. I would say if this keeps happening, return it to N.

Its definitely a battery issue. My wiimote completely lost sync with the Wii even though the battery wasn't completely depleted. Still had about 50% power. Tried the sync buttons (didn't work) then tried restarting the Wii (also didn't work). In the end i just got a new set of batteries, replaced the old ones and it works flawlessly.
    CURRENTLY PLAYING:

Ours just went out again. The controller that was being used as the primary was showing 3 bars of battery while the other controller has a full battery charge. I couldn't get it to resync off either controller, I held the power down and it didn't work there either. I unplugged it and tried again and it still didn't go. I then popped out Metal Slug Anthology and tried it again (while it was on the 'Press A' screen and then both controllers sync'd in seconds.

    That was REALLY frustrating.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.
