There are a few things you require to do multiconsule play:
Connector cord
Two PSX systems
At least two controllers
Two copies of a compatible game
Here's a shot or the cable I have:

For the record, only a handful of games ever actually used the link cable system. No more than 20, that I'm quite sure of.
Support for the cable was dropped very quickly, too.

doom
neo geo system
I did this way back in the day. Im not sure of all the titles that did it but we did it for the original Twisted metal and Destruction Derby. Best thing to do is also have the 2 tv's face back to back so you cant look at the other screen lol
I really like Busido Blade, the Wipeout games, Doom, and Ridge Racer Type 4 played over system-link.

Too bad the mini psone doesn't have the right port: two of those with LCD screens would be awesome for Armored Core tournaments.
A friend and I would always link up on Need for Speed.
We never would race but we would try to create the biggest crashes. One of us would drive a little ways up the road and park across both lanes of traffic. Then wait a minute for the traffic to build up on both sides of the parked car. Finally, the other player would come flying towards the traffic jam and just plow into everything.
Man that was fun.
We saved some guy's life. Killed some vicious murdering lichs and blew up something big. I'd call that a pretty good night.
