Alright has anyone else noticed this? Just look at the any auction with someone bidding.
It kinda pisses me off. Others opinions? I don't really want to get in to it right yet, I just want to hear other reactions.

Isn't it only in Ebay Motors, or at least only on vehicles? Have they branched out or does the policy include other listings?

anything over $250 goes to the anon bidders now
Been in place for auctions over £100 in the UK for a while now. Shiller's charter, as we call it.
Of course, not that eBay care - reduces the amount of mail they have to deal with about shill bidders, and raises the average end price of auctions as more shillers can get away with their nefarious deeds.

Actually I discovered if you hover the mouse over "bid details" on the right, it will show you information about the bidder (how long registered, number of feedback etc).
I saw this on the PS3 auctions...I was like what the fuck is going on.

I was pissed off by it at first too. I'm not so sure now. I do see their point that it would prevent phishing. On the other hand, you haven't a chance in hell of busting a seller shilling their goods now
That's just a way for ebay to make more money: ninja shilling bidders, no possibility to contact potential interested buyers for some goods you'd like to sell privately (yeah, I know, doing this is BAD lol)
No way to contact losing bidders after the auction has FULLY concluded, either (meaning that the winning bidder has left feedback for seller) which IS, to the best of my understanding... allowable by their TOS.
Anything sooner can be construed as infringing upon, interfering with, or impeding an auction in progress.
That would be depending on value regarding bidder 1, etc, of course... as to if member name was even visible, of course... <sigh>
