    Default DKTheArcadeRat's Disc Resurfacing

I figured since it was a service, I should post it here, if not, please move it to the correct forum.

So here's how it goes, I use a professional disc resurfacer(operated by yours truly) to resurface your scratched up discs. Pricing is as follows.

$2 a disc(would rather not take DC games, as they are too finicky for resurfacing, if they work, don't mess with them, there is a good chance that if you send me them, they still will not work upon return, they are just screwy)
Other than that, all discs of all sorts will be accepted. So to put it a little more clearly.

    $2 a disc/game
$2 plus $1 for each disc on top of that for multi-disc games(so $5 for a 4 disc game)

Cases of some sort should be sent with the game/disc in question, otherwise I am not responsible for scratches upon return/break in disc.

SHIPPING: Both to send it here and return shipping WILL BE PAYED BY CUSTOMER.

Any questions, feel free to PM me on here.

Also, for those of you who have already had experiences with my service(s), please post in here, or make a feedback thread.

I have a number of questions:

will this fix small hairline scratches and regular deeper ones?

Does this work with sega saturn games?

Will the disc look weird afterwords? I remember with those gamedr things, they looked a bit strange on the bottom of the disc. like a chainsaw blade sort of.

I have an X-Box college football game I'd like to send you. I just had a couple questions which I'll ask here, largely to bump your thread.

    1. The disc I'd be sending has some noticeable scratches which seem to slow down the loading times and disrupt the in-game commentary. I'm under the impression it could be fixed but what would you do if you see a disc you think may not be fixable?

    2. I know what it would cost to ship to you, but how do you determine shipping costs back to the customer? I know the zip code has something to do with it but a couple other factors would be useful to know. What would a disc be sent in and what method would be used?

But yes, I'd be interested in getting an X-Box game fixed up at some point. Unless you have reservations, I'd send it in a cd slimcase or jewel case.

DK just resurfaced a disc for me (Team Buddies for PS1). There were a lot of scratches on it and it was probably the most haggard looking cd I've ever seen. The entire disc was covered with deep & light scratches but amazingly, it would still play fine. The game is somewhat of a PS1 rarity though, so I sent it to DK to work his magic on it.

Got the disc back about a week and a half later and it looked like new again. The only way you could tell it was re-surfaced is if you held it under a bright light at a certain angle. Looks 100% better though.

Cool. The game I'd be sending for repair is barely worth the $2 I'd pay for the service, not including the shipping. However, I hate throwing a perfectly good game away, even if I can get another copy for a couple of bucks. Might as well just get it fixed. It was the first X-Box game I ever bought, albeit used, it has a little sentimental value.

If my memory serves me correctly it has to do with where they put the boot/security data on the disc. I think it's on either the inner ring or outer ring of the disc so that they will die faster.

As far as return shipping goes, just send a little more than you paid for it, like if you paid $1, send $2, just to cover in case it costs more, also to cover packing. Usually depending on amount of discs and or how big the cases are, i use a bubble mailer, but will use boxes for larger orders. Any more questions feel free to pm me.

Thanks for the excellent work, Dave. I may contact you again in the weeks to come to get 2-3 more discs fixed up. Sooner or later, I'll get you some feedback up in the Feedback Forum.

Do you do DVDs as well? I have several anime discs in various states of disrepair (with no small thanks to my ex) and would happily pay a reputable person to get them fixed.

    The DVDs in question:
Sailor Moon season 3 (6 discs)
    Slayers season 1 (4 discs)
    Slayers season 2 (4 discs)
    Slayers season 3 (4 discs)
    Outlaw Star (6 discs)
Fullmetal Alchemist volume 4 (1 disc)
Serving the retrogaming community since March 2005

    DP feedback: +47(!), no negatives

I'll speak up for Dave on this one. He has done a few discs for me, and it is 100 time better than those $20 do-it-yourself ones. You may be able to tell it has been resurfaced, but that is much better than having a ton of bad scratches.
