The name Waluigi is actually more clever than one might think.

When written in katakana it's waruiji.

warui = "bad, evil, etc." this is what Wario's name is a play on. That and the upside-down "M"

ruiji = Luigi, but also "copy, clone"

Therefore, waruiji = "bad clone"

That is awesome if true.

I don't think there is a Nintendo character I don't like. I like tingle and waluigi. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi kind of make me sick though and the Re-Deads freak me out.

Wario I could understand (the anti-Mario), but Waluigi is mix of both being the anti-Luigi (which I never found Luigi to be terribly interesting) and he comes off as some wannabe Wario.

So Waluigi is the lamest character created.

I'll go ahead and say the whole legion of characters spawned from the Mario games. Personally, I've had enough of 'em. They've been shoehorned into almost every conceivable genre and they're so saccharine-sweet it makes me want to puke blood. If Nintendo's real goal this generation is indeed innovation, why not toss the most tired of their mascots out on their asses for a while?

It was in response to "Your least favorite Nintendo character", not "Best Mario Tennis character". I've never even played the newer Mario Tennis game, just the N64 release. He's just so freakishly fugly, has an annoying voice (which a lot of the Nintendo characters have) and is lame but I guess it's not our fault considering Mario has an opposite evil twin, why can't Luigi!

Kid Icarus' villian character of Eggplant Wizard. It might have been his depection in episodes of Captain N: The Game Master that did it, but I just never liked the character. As far as most annoying Nintendo character though, I'd have to say with a cool as Mario is I can't stand his whole "Itsa' Me Mario!" thing or the fact he's in every genre of gaming save a GTA type game.

Right, and I was surprised that so many respondents picked Waluigi. I have the 64 and the Cube versions of Tennis, but the 64 version is my fave. This game is probably in my top five of all time. That's why I could never rank Waluigi towards the bottom of the pile, because he was so good in that game. A highly useful character that you can rack up wins with shouldn't be so reviled.
