Default Game Gear TV Tuner Compatibility Question

    Hi

Does anyone know if the European Game Gear TV Tuner will work on a US Game Gear in the USA?

I'm pretty sure that it will work in the actual game gear, but would it pick up a signal.

    Cheers for any help

No, you won't get any signal. A Euro TV Tuner will be set to pick up a PAL (or SECAM) signal. The USA uses NTSC as its TV format.

When are the analogue TV transmitters getting switched off anyway? I'm sure it's not that far off in the UK (I don't watch telly!)?

You know, I never knew there was a Euro one. I'm interested in how it converted PAL airwaves into NTSC for the GG screen.

Anyway, I hear the JP one works in USA, but the channels are all off. The Euro one, I have no clue!

I was wondering if there was any way of hooking up an external video source to the TV tuner. Maybe something rigged up through the antenna. It would be interesting to play GameBoy games on it passed through a GameCube. I'm geeky that way.

They do have an A/V jack built in. I tried playing Genesis games on mine once. It was.. not easy to play.
