Best Buy Clearance Sale

Exactly. If anyone has been keeping up with the thread over at Cheapassgamer, you would know that NONE of these titles are at any Best Buy stores...hence the ridiculous clearance pricing. People who went in advance this weekend (to get a price match today) were reporting 1 or 2 titles out of that entire list. This is much ado about nothing.

I found over 40 titles, and some with several multiples of each.

I didn't even pick up everything, but spent over $1,500. They'll not be happy with me today when they have to give about $1,200 of it back to me.

Seriously - make a statement like, "most titles are unavailable" or "good luck finding some of these".

To say that "NONE of these titles are at any of the Best Buy stores" is just plain retarded.

I found 4 Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, 3 Monster Hunter Freedom, and a Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on my first outing alone.

After that, I found all of the XBOX 360 games except Oblivion CE and Quake, and many, many more from the PSP and other systems.

Congratulations...seriously. If you've been reading the responses at CAG, you would know that you are in the severe minority. You say you posted your finds...did you read any of the other CAG'ers reports? I didn't think so.

Well, my personal trip to Best Buy was a bust. I think my local store is price gouging, because they do have clearance price stickers on a lot of older games, but they're not the same price listed in the first post.

Apparently, this Best Buy's idea of clearing out old GBA, DS, and PS2 games is marking them at $20 and $15 instead of $5 and $2. I didn't see a single game for $10 or less, and I looked very thoroughly, even at the games hidden behind other games.

These titles are not impossible to find, but they WILL be possible to find at low volume, or new stores.

I live in Arizona and work at 251 Arrowhead in Peoria. DO NOT GO THERE. We do too much business and have none of these games, like most of you are expecting. If you're an Arizona resident, travel up North to Prescott, where they do very little business, or Avondale, which does HORRIBLE business even for being a brand new store. Prescott had almost ALL the sku's I was interested in and Avondale had many.

I'm thinking about picking up a few, but I've got my mind on buying some other stuff at the moment so I dunno...May stop by Avondale, as the comic store I want to go to is very close to there.

Actually I've read every post since page one. So, I do "think so."

My point was simple. Don't say that NONE of these games can be found.

Most of the CAG posts indicated that they were looking for very specific games and couldn't find them.

To say that you won't find any games off of a 12 page list is simply overstated.

Another thing that makes me weary or looking is the fact that a lot of the stores have a shrink number around .39 - .41. That is a ton of money to be missing. Kind of brings up the question well, do they even have it?? Technically, all missing inventory at those stores SHOULD be keyed out so the games should be there. Wish me luck! If all goes to plan, I should actually be playing my PSP soon, lol.

Well, My Best buy was a bust. The sad thing, they only have about 30 Gamecube games total.

Avoid the BB in Augusta, GA.

When I went they said that all the games were pulled from the shelves to be sent back to the warehouse. I certainly couldn't find anything, so I left empty handed.

As far as retail goes, that range is not considered high shrink. I know a lot of store managers who would kill to hit that number.

I just returned from my best buy and I didn't see 1 game on the list which is a rarity for so called sales like these. I say bullshit a serious loser sale. Talk about bait and switch not 1 title and that was a pretty big list. No wonder the cheap pricing it could be 99cents who cares if you have none. I was seriously starting to think they were pulled or something. I have never seen a so called sale and they don't have 1.

I managed a few games from the sale (Harvest Moon DS, Capcom Classics, Midway Classics, Sega Classics, Samurai Champloo). There was one other person in the store as it opened, and he was buying anything and everything on sale (multiple copies of two games I wanted - Gradius Collection, FFXI), so I can safely say our Best Buy is cleared out.

What kills me is I swear I saw many of the other games on the list only a week or two ago (especially the DS and GC stuff). Either some of these games were cleared out earlier, or they were sent to another store/warehouse.

Ah well, Harvest Moon is the one game I really wanted as a gift for a friend I'll be visiting in March. She'll be happy... but I kind of wanted one for myself too. Maybe I'll see if Walmart will match the price on my receipt

Holy crap. That's a great sale. I hope I get paid today, I'll run by BB and pick up a few games for my incomming GB Micro (namely FFIV Advance) & maybe a couple titles for my dusty old DS. (The worst $150 I've spent thus far)
Maybe I'll even grab a title or two for my PSP. I've heard it isn't only for emulation & movies.

I hit the Totowa, NJ Best Buy at 12pm today. Loads of people in the store with lists in their hands but not a clearance game to be found
